We would like to take a trip to Maine this summer. Good places to go, good time to go? Who knows about Maine? Pete?

I lived in Maine for a bit. Came home as soon as the snow STARTED melting in mid-April. Best time to go is July/August when it's warm. Cape Elizabeth is nice!

Bribng a LOT of bug repellant, and a misquito net if you plan on being outside.

Bugs in the NorthEast are atrocious.

Misquitoes.. No-see-ums, horse flies..

I couldn't make it from my front door to my car without getting bit 4 or 5 times in the morning.

Keep it up, Bob, and I'll be going solo.:lmao:

ok ok lets see.......huge bugs, mud season, snow and a long way to drive...

and I want to go to Maine why?

The bugs aren't huge, there are just a lot of them.

Mud season is only during the thawing out period when all the snow melts from winter in addition to spring flowers, it passes quickly.

Black flies are only a problem for a few weeks in the spring BUT mosquitoes are a problem all year. They respond well to SSS, Deep Woods Off or anything with DEET. All of which they sell locally.

It is about an 11 hour drive to "get thea frum hea".

The roads are paved, they have ATM's and there are doctors who actually live there so they don't have to fly you to Boston if you get attacked by a bear.

It doesn't snow in the summer........well hardly ever.

Very beautiful state, mountains, coast, flora, fauna, quaint towns, sports, camping and if the $2.00 toll on the turnpike is not a problem it is affordable.

You have to go to Maine to get to Moody's diner, which is in Waldoboro, which is where the 4 berry pie is located.

N.H. and Vermont have the same conditions and there is still 2 feet of snow piled on the sides of my sister's driveway. It is a bit unusual this late in the season but it does push mud season and black fly season deeper into Spring :lmao:

You should go because the region is very beautiful, different than here and everyone should see as much of the U.S. as possible. Just ignore the slight exagerations about some of the lesser problems one might encounter.

Cause it's not here?

That's why i live here, it's not there.

My mom still had 4.5 feet of snow in her yard (as of last week).. In Jan Concord NH had almost 100 inches of snow.

Parents had to take an edger out to get 3 inches of ice off of their driveway.

They've had snow cover since Halloween.

Nope, I LOVE it here.
