sorry but I am a big fan of profiling. It works.
Did anyone think to profile Seung-Hui Cho when shot and killed 32 people and wounded 17 others at Va Tech in 07?
How about Timothy McVeigh? Afterall, he was a Army vet that decided to blow half of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City killing 168 people and injuring over 800 people. Where was the profiling there?
Ted Kaczynski (The "Unabomber") was born in Chicago, Illinois, where, as an intellectual child prodigy, he excelled academically from an early age. Kaczynski was accepted into Harvard University at the age of 16, where he earned an undergraduate degree, and later earned a PhD in mathematics from the University of Michigan. He became an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley at age 25, but resigned two years later. Profile?
Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab? The "underwear bomber" was a son of the richest people in Nigeria. Where was his profile?
Richard Reid? He was the "shoe bomber". He was also British, with a Jamaican father. How come no one profiled him?
Germaine Lindsay, one of the 7/7 London bombers, was Afro-Caribbean. Where was that profile?
Dirty bomb suspect Jose Padilla was Hispanic-American. Profile?
The 2002 Bali terrorists were Indonesian. Profile?
The Chechen terrorists who blew up two Russian planes in 2004 were female.
There are two kinds of profiling. There’s behavioral profiling based on how someone acts, and there’s automatic profiling based on name, nationality, method of ticket purchase, and so on....
Which one do you feel works? If you say behavioral, what about this man's behavior was need for alarm? Talking on a cell phone away from others? Or being in the children's section by himself?
Should we be alarmed that pedo's will be pulling up to the next car wash put on by your local high school cheerleading squad?
