The question is, should we give people who have at one point in their life threatened someone the death penalty because they could threaten someone else again at some point?

I don't recall anyone advocating anything remotely resembling that. Your comprehension skills are pretty weak. The topic at hand is only about defending oneself when actually being attacked. Do try harder to keep up, Chuck.

I've worked in places where customers threatened others and the police said that you have to worry about the ones who don't say anything and that usually the ones who threaten are all bark and no bite which has been true in a lot of circumstances. If that was the case, the pastor allegedly wanted him.....

So, to be sure... a guy is coming at you with a brick, you do what? Since GW won't answer, maybe you will.

My dad was in WWII and they were taught how to run up on someone and take their gun in case they ran out of bullets, they weren't holding a gun or they were in close proximity.

It takes being in shape and having a lot of guts to do something like that.

I would have tried to take the brick away but the probability is that the football player would have won because he has practice with coordinating moving objects (people and the brick) but in real sports, the reason why players miss is because it is hard to run and aim at the same time. That is just the way it is.

So, the assumption is that you are unarmed? In that case, I do advocate getting in really close really fast and tying up that brick hand while attacking soft spots to get him to drop it. Eyes, testes, etc. Very few people, when thier eyes are endangered, continue to act rationally.

Now, if you are armed, SHOOT HIM. Until he STOPS FRIKEN MOVING. and when he stops moving, KEEP YOUR FRIKEN GUN ON HIM UNTIL HE STOPS BREATHING. If you can't assume that a person coming after you with a brick is trying to kill you we are in crazy town.

That said, I know of one local case where one biker held down a guy while the other rearranged his skull with a Maglight, and it wasn't murder, because the State said they would have too hard a time proving that the guy with the Maglight thought that doing this would kill the man, instead of just injuring him.

So, bottom line is you’re willing to die because you’re uncomfortable with killing the bad guy.

BTW… this is NOT a sport; this is self-defense when someone is threatening your life. You better have the means to evaluate your attacker quickly and decide quickly what your response is going to be. For the sake of your family – and especially if you have kids and don’t want to orphan them on the side of your discomfort for using lethal force – defend yourself.

I think the man would have been happy with his wife back.
I think if the pastor kept his zipper zipped then he wouldn't have felt the need to get rid of him.
I think a lot of this could have been avoided.

If the pastor retreated, called the police, locked the door, what do you think the result would have been?

My wife comes home, there is a man across the street defending his house with a gun and pointing it at his father.

I called the police because we are in the line of fire, the police tell my wife to get back in the car, the police come, they empty the weapon and the shells hit the ground, they take the neighbor down to the station, we never see the Dad anymore who is causing trouble and there is peace in our neighborhood for now. Not everything has to be self defense and not everything has to be solved through violence.

The neighbor keeps his gun, the dad doesn't come back and everyone is happy.
