So were they functioning as cops or security at the time of this?

They were functioning as police officers. Otherwise, why would there be an internal police investigation. It is really hard to answer your questions as most of them anybody with even a moderate level of intelligence would know the answer.

I guess we will have to see when the investigation is done.

Penn, the investigation is done. Instead of spouting ignorant, why don't you just learn a fact or two? Do you really enjoy remaining blissfully ignorant? It appears that you would rather just spout your opinion, and ignore all facts that show you are wrong.

The aide had no responsibility to ensure public safety. She had a responsibility to provide appropriate care, which she obviously did not. That's why people who provide these services have licensing and training requirements - so that they know better than to leave someone who needs their assistance alone without the support they need.

Not buying a movie ticket is a matter of public safety?

Fact is, the investigation revealed it was a homicide via suffocation.

Did the aide do it?

In his mind, they were stangers, I'm sure.

What if they came in, grabbed him buy the arm, and said, "you have to go". What do you think his reaction would be?

I've had the police "help" me in an emergency. They were useless.

I hope you never need them in an emergency either, considering the average response time is 10 minutes.

That's good news, and now we know why you hate cops.

And I have needed them, and I love cops. You put up with the crap they have to, you may learn a little respect for them.

"Wrong" in your eyes, maybe, but I prefer to play devil's advocate sometimes.

If only we could be as right as you all the time. :howdy:

I hate cops? Maybe I should let my uncle know....

I wasn't aware anyone forced them into that job. They knew what they were getting into when they signed up.

If you're saying your uncle is a cop, maybe he should read some of your cop bashing threads, then you won't have to tell him, he'll find out on his own.

Of course they do and yet they still take the job, the very reason I respect and admire them.

Did the aide do it?

You seriously need to learn a little bit about how things work. You are conflating homicide with murder. They are not the same. Maybe that's where your confusion lies - you are unable to read past that word homicide and understand the facts of the case.

If you think the aide did it, then you seriously need to read the articles about the case. I assumed you were just being stubborn, but it appears that you are just blatantly ignorant.

I think this really sums it up:

"It was not an urgent situation that required immediate attention."

This is where I think the security/police made a bad judgement.

Well there's your problem. You are taking the word of an ambulance chasing attorney over the word of the people who were present.

You said the investigation is over. The article says it is over. So instead of admitting you are wrong you are changing your tune to say the SAO is reviewing it. Man up, Penn. Admit you know nothing and have just been spouting ignorant. It's okay. Everyone already knows.

I know exactly how things work, the dude is dead, no matter what you call it. He's dead after, and only after the police:
“There did come a point when they had to remove him from his seat,” says Jenkins. “There was no excess force. They did have to handcuff Mr. Saylor and unfortunately as they were walking out he suffered a medical emergency."

Pages, and pages ago we established that the cops obviously didn't do it on purpose.

I think the aide did it? Are you feeling ok? The past few pages have been nothing but you arguing how it's the aides fault for not being with him 100% of the time.

So you haven't even read this story, not even the pertinent parts?

As officials tell it, Saylor had been watching “Zero Dark Thirty” at a Frederick movie theater last month and, as soon as it ended, wanted to watch it again. When he refused to leave, a theater employee called three off-duty Frederick County sheriff’s deputies who were working a security job at the Westview Promenade shopping center and told them that Saylor either needed to buy another ticket or be removed.

Well JPC, the investigation may be done, do you have a copy of it?

If we're doing JPC comparisons here, your blissful ignorance speaks volume.

Do you have a copy of the autopsy report? If you don't believe that article about the investigation, why would you believe it about the autopsy?

I think the aide did it? Are you feeling ok?

Then why did you ask if she did? Obviously nobody else thinks she did, but it appears that you do. Are you playin Dark Helmet and decided to go to ludicrous speed?

So, if no excessive force was used, why are you blaming the cops?

Yea, TOG!

Sure does, there had been a rash of SD people sneaking in to the movie theater. It was a serious problem. An the SD guy was just smashing one of the security officers head on the ground. I bet all THREE security guards were fearing for their lives.

Man, they should really throw the book that those three security guards.

Nice try MMdad.

you are even more confused than normal :killingme

Robert Saylor's Death Ruled A Homicide: Man With Down Syndrome Died In Police Custody

A "law enforcement source familiar with the case" told the station that Saylor "went into distress when he was put face down on the ground."

And? Is it wrong for them to put him face down on the ground? Does that violate their SOP? What would you prefer them to do? "Here sir, please subdue yourself and put on these handcuffs."

You are just now finding a little bit about the case and trying to present it as new facts? We've been discussing this for pages. Try to keep up.

You are surely not trying to say they weren't in uniform?
Chris, give up. Seriously. You're just digging deeper and deeper, and frightening the children.

according to the story in the OP that is exactly correct, the police were not in uniform at the time.
