Marine Puppy Toss

That's so sad! When I was in South Korea, the South Korean Navy guys I was working with took us and some Marines out to a formal dining out. The meal was smoked and fried dog. You could walk past any restaurant in Pohang, and see pens of dogs and puppies outside, waiting for someone to pick one out for butchering into a meal. Now here's these guys getting punished and the USMC is all up in arms because a poor wittle puppy got killed.

No wonder our enemies see us as a bunch of candy-assed pansies.

It is just dumb on their part. Shoot the damn thing in the head or is the military hurting for 5.56mm these days? They took the time to catch it, tie it up and then film it being thrown off the cliff. To alot of people that watch it, it makes the military guys look like monsters.

Baghdad Bob himself couldn't of come up with a better story.

:yeahthat: Seriously, what happened to the rule of thumb being to kill all dogs in the AO because they can give your position away? Don't get me wrong, I have wonderful pets that I adore, but in a combat arena, the rules are different and Fluffy isn't just Fluffy - it's an animal that can attack, cause diseases and infections, and even distract from the matter at hand which is combat. Irregardless, it's a dog in the AO, and sorry to say, it's not worth a moments concern to anybody, and should never be worth all the bleeding heart comments and liberal attention.

Wouldn't hurling a howling puppy over a cliff tend to draw attention also? Especially if the fall doesn't kill the puppy and it continues to howl in agony for hours? Regardless, this action was indefensibly cruel and those dooshbags who participated in it won't be punished severely enough.

Not to a lot of people, just mostly Americans, it makes them look like monsters. Do you really think that some kid in Baghdad who watches guys cutting the heads off people really thinks that killing a puppy makes you a monster? Do you really think that people around the world who look at dogs and puppies the way we look at chickens think killing a puppy makes you a monster?

Please... spare me the dribble. Only in America can you find a bunch of squeemish nellies who would discharge highly-trained marines because dey killed dat wittle puppy.

Good points. I'm sure this will give the Marines something else to worry about during combat. I can see it now...

"Gunner target enemy machine gun position at two o'clock."
"Roger that... oops, hold it! There's a puppy that's between us and the position. Should I risk shooting it or just let the enemy gunners keep chewing our guys up?"
"Are you insane man! You'll get discharged for sure if you kill dat poor wittle puppy! Just wait until he wanders off and we'll just have to accept the casualties... I mean, they're just Marines after all. It's not like they're puppies!"

Who do you think is watching youtube, Americans and Europeans that are just looking for excuses to demonize the American military. Well lots of them are anyway. Personally I couldn't careless and agree that our country as become a bunch of yuppie homos so to speak. It is just dumb and knowing who the audience will likely be viewing these kind of videos should be deterrent enough.

Was it ever confirmed that the puppy was alive during the tossing?

I wondered about that too. I've got six German Shepherd puppies running around my feet, and if I picked one of them up like that he's gonna have a fit. That dog isn't showing any signs of life.

Who is the audience likely to be? Most of the folks who live in countries that don't like us are usually very limited as to what internet access they get, if they get any at all, so I doubt they've got sites like youtube, where people can express an opinion, available to them.

If it in necessary to kill a defenseless animal, you can do it without being a dick about it

The howl as he flies off into the distance indicates that he was probably alive.

You're overlooking the fact that these are American Marines, not Korean or Chinese. In our culture, dogs have a status something close to humans... the fact that some Marine would kill a dog in such a sadistic manner - reveals a lot about the lack of respect that particular Marine has for our societal beliefs and/or life in general. So yeah, the guy is sick - and not USMC caliber.

AMERICANS AND EUROPEANS!!!!!

Many that think that we don't belong there in the first place and that our military is full of cruel heartless people. Like I said, personally, I don't give a flying F. Kill em all! Carpet bomb Iraqi puppy rescues. (Tongue in cheek by the way, since you are having such a hard time understanding)

The point is people back here and in many "civilized" countries flew off the handle because we got some German Sheppards a little too close to prisoners. WTF did these guys expect after filming this?

It doesn't matter who saw it, and if they' were doing it for security/health reasons, they didn't need to hurl it off a dang cliff. And then laugh and snicker about it, as if it's some big joke.
