Massive Fire in Solomons

I figured the whole thing needs to go. The entire building was roped off. Such a shame, but it could have been much worse.

Now, what about the guy that started this?
It's not a shame. It's a blessing as long as no one was hurt. It was the plan all along anyway by the property owner.

I do not believe it was a terrible terrible accident for one second. Though it is true that homeless people were always found behind the shopping strip and run off. The camper most likely belonged to one of the owners. But how can a single candle flame burn down half a shopping strip that has concrete block and some steel walls in the back of the buildings. Particularly the vet building. Nope something else going on there, they just wanted a quick solution. A lot of illegal codes in those buildings. Could have even been a raccoon in the attic chomping on old electrical wiring. Happened before. Just saying.
Without actually being there, the candle ignites combustibles in the trailer, engulfing it. This ignites other items in the yard, from pictures does not appears free of hazards such as propane tanks, there were reports of an explosion. The building in the rear of the vets appears to been an open storage area.
Block walls are useless if you have windows, wooden eaves, and other breaks in the barrier.

It just hit me exactly where this fire was. My boat has been behind that building for several weeks, because it was in the way when the guys where painting/launching boats in our yard. I just texted the yard manager and he said my boat is okay. He moved it back into the yard, so you all can rest easy. Thanks for your concern. :yay:

I usually catch a whiff of their pit going in the morning or early afternoon. Incredible...
I have never had a bad meal there. Service is always great-many ladies have worked there forever. Owner is very generous with donations to food banks and churches. Nice guy as is his wife.
He was coming over the bridge last night and saw the flames. Arrived right after the guards from Navy Rec enter did and before the fire trucks. I cannot even imagine how he felt.
OMG, their ribs and potato salad and brussels sprouts...let me know if you ever want to meet there!

Will do! I'm generally a 7-11 kind of guy, but I'm sure I could squeeze it into my budget now that I'm driving the fuel miser most days. Plus, ribs, potato salad, and brussels sprouts are my very favorites.

Wife and I love Boomerangs! As you said - have never gotten a bad meal there. 3 or 4 years ago I had a private party there for my employees. They opened the place just for us on New Years Eve and served us a delicious buffet spread. Support local.

concerning the burned businesses, I had been into the bike shop a couple years ago inquiring about a new bike. Was very pleased with the knowledge and professionalism of the employees. Haven’t pulled the trigger on a new bike yet but they are top of my list when I do.

I stopped by to let the person I know that works at the thrift store that if they needed help moving anything, I was available. Their insurance agent was there assessing the damage which was mostly smoke and water. She said they told her the whole building needed to come down.
I saw the owner of Boomerangs at the post office and he said they dodged a bullet and as sad as he was to see the fire, he was grateful it did not burn down his building as well.
Yes, that could have been so much worse! Kudos to the all the companies of firefighters in our area who came out to mitigate that fire. :yay:

:yay: A trailer will go up very fast! I'm sure the Vet Hospital had all sorts of flammables - not to mention oxygen tanks, etc.
