IIRC it was a mutual thing ...

... but friends got the 3rd degree I thought Vrai was going to get out a bright light and rubber hose one night

Friends give the 3rd degree when they care about the friend! And I'm glad.

It's true, there was no matchmaking. It sort of just...evolved. I had a lot on my plate during the last 2 years, and the last thing I was looking for was a date.

I have 2 friends who met their spouses online. Then I have another friend who was naive and desperate for a relationship and got tied up with the wrong guy. She is in prison now for believing his lies. I've been hesitant to pursue anything with online dating. I was never into blind dates when I was young and still can't do it.

I have a standing rule to not date other forum members. Too close an environment if things go south, too many people know too many people that don't need to know my personal business. I can remember a few forum break ups a few years back.... not pretty at all.

Larry and I had probably the most visible relationship on the forums and we managed our transition nicely.

That's my biggest fear about these online dating sites. I'd find some guy, seems cool enough, we meet for drinks, that goes well, we meet for dinner....and then I find out he's (insert username here) on the forums. :twitch:

Or you could be like a friend of mine who met a very nice guy at a local bar and found out he's closely related to a forumite. :lmao:

and this is how I have to find out :completelyheartbroken:

Live and learn.

I hope you never have a broken arm as well.

Money can be replaced.

The heart, not so much.

Neither was I til I met my wife on one, the only one I ever had, I might add, that was over 15 years ago, and she still makes me feel like this every day:yahoo:

What?!
another forumite from here that recently married met their spouse they met on and on-line dating site. I'll leave it up to that person if they wish to discuss it.

I say, go for it if you want to. Just be careful.

:diva: I met him on match or plenty of fish. POF had a LOT of weirdos on there  I think mainly because it was free. We emailed back and forth for like a week or 2 before we meet. And even thought he was active duty and has twin boys  There was just something different about him. (Different in a good way, not crazy psycho way) A year later we got hitched and I have never been happier! I totally lucked out meeting such an amazing wonderful man
