I never really understood the karma thing...But I like when "LIKE" was added. It always made me feel good when someone LIKED my comments and I also enjoying hitting the LIKE button for others. Often times, I didn't have a comment but "LIKE" was a way of letting them know I saw and liked their post.

Agree FF, like the new site but do miss the like button. A lot of times i would agree with someones post and just not have anything new to add so, hitting like conveyed the message

To me, just a simple button to click on, PC of the current administrators be darned. Let people be known as liked or disliked for certain opinions. Who gives a crap about the advertisers.

I was thinking custom, to be used here only for liking a post. Maybe a stamp of approval generator somewhere to make one? Something like a PAID stamp used on bills, with LIKE on it. The others are standard and used for many things. I was thinking along the lines of one thats only for that purpose. Oh well, it was just a thought, everyone misses it so much.

I always have, since I joined. Hello my name is Deb and I'm a coffeeholic. Its a thing on the net and in real life I'm known for. So the smilie is like signing Deb to a letter, just a thing.

:coffee:

So, are you a character or are you real?

I Liked the :like: because it was a way to agree with a post without lengthening a thread with just the like.

And a great me you are! You add a lot of thoughtful and amusing discussion to this forum. Last time I checked, cartoon characters cannot interact on an internet forum. But, 'characters' interacting is a different story!

Oh, and deb, I applaud you on how you handle forum trolls! It is a shame the admin couldn't delete them during the upgrade.

:yay: <-----IIRC, this smilie was used by many of the posters to represent that they (we) "liked" something said in the post. To be very specific and like just one comment or word, you can actually just highlight/quote that portion and type the :yay:

I *liked* the *like* button, but a lot of times, I would only *like* specific parts of a post or I would *like* a specific part of a post more than the other.

Highlilght/quote and the :yay: smilie applied to that situation more than the *like* button.

I think posters just "got used" to the *like* button, and it will take a litte while to get used to not having it. Once you get used to typing what you like instead of clicking a button, it's really not all that hard and it's more better. :bann: (If I do say so myself)

I liked the like button for 2 reasons. First, it allowed me to respond to a post without having to go through the whole reply process, and second, it allows the OP to know that someone actually read their post and at least nominally responded to it. Same thing is true for my own posts; if no one "likes" them, maybe it's time for a different subject.

I find it particularly useful in the entertainment threads.

We (those who replied) are only posting our thoughts in regard to your question. There used to not be a "like" button, and we used all those aforementioned smilies to accomplish the *like*.

I don't care either way if the "like" button comes back or not, I am only explaining how I might be able to handle the same action without it.

Yeah, before the like button, we had "karma." That was so enjoyable.

Hankey-poo, I'm sorry to have to remind you that this forum thrives on the thoughts of many people, not just a few.

I believe we can add much love to your life with a couple of sweet kitties. It appears you need more attention, so I recommend Mary Kate and Ashley. If you are not a cat person, we have a pitbull mix that likes dogs and cats that could work for you.

I am not sure animals would be safe with Hankey-poo. Do you do background checks?
