Some ban, it's a secondary offense so unless you are doing something else illegal you can still use your handheld cell phone.

Some ban, it's a secondary offense so unless you are doing something else illegal you can still use your handheld cell phone.

For now. Seatbelts used to be a secondary offense as well.

True, but you'll get the argument that they've been "trained" to multitask like that. I do know it bugs me when I see it, mainly because you know it's not police business. They have radios for that.

You can also still use your hands to initiate a call, you just can't hold the phone to your ear to talk. I guess looking up the number and punching it into the phone isn't distracting enough to ban, but talking is.

If you've ever had a wife as a passenger, you'd know that she'd never let anything get by.... you'd get a constant update on road conditions even if you weren't looking at the road..... So, it's actually better than talking on the phone with hands free.

In 5 years and 80,000 miles, my wife's Dodge has been towed zero times. Other than normal items like brakes, the only repair has been for a broken parking brake cable.
