Imagine you sold some guy a gun which he then used to take pot shots at his neighbors. The cops show up and search his house but are unable to find the gun. Is it reasonable to assume this guy had a gun and hid it?

You know, the state is counting on the fact that people are so addicted to cigs they won't give them up. When we were kids, and someone wanted a smoke but didn't have the funds, we could just wander out into the barn and pull down a leaf...Actually Grandpa did that all the time, he taught us all about which ones were best. Can't do that now, though, not after Glendening...so now that the tax is harder to get around legally, the taxes go up.

I have a cousin like that. Swears she can't work because of x wrong with her and her husband can't because he has y wrong with him...I have both x and y and have worked without interruption since I was 14.
But people who are on assistance are all individuals. Some may not have the skills (or even intelligence in some cases) to get above subsistance, some have just fallen on hard times, some know they can do better but gotta eat in the mean time... and of course those that abuse the system.

People who abuse the system aren't stupid, they just apply their minds to getting out of work rather than getting ahead.

Taxing cigs to help people who will not help themselves is not a great idea, it's stupid. Since the poor are disproportionally affected by the cigarette tax, does it really make any sense at all?
Taxing cigs to defray their actual cost to society is a great idea. Of course, their actual cost to society should be determined first, before levying the tax.

I always said if she put half the energy into doing something positive that she puts into beating the system, she could actually get somewhere. She's just plain and simple,, a loaf!!! Oh but she has her cigs and beer while her little ones sleep on nasty mattresses with big old holes!! Personally I can't even be around her because of what will come out of my mouth!!! My husband gets pizzed when I say things but he's the first to make snide remarks about others doing the same thing, just not about HIS baby sister.

If the DNA guy is right the smart ones will probably die off because they couldn't compete with the new age neanderthals for food.
Also if the tall smart ones only intermingle they will eventually begin inbreeding which would promote bad "genetic traits".

DING this is why people have gotten that way....no one ever dares say anything. We have to be all Politically Correct and say "You seem to be motivationally and hygenically challenged because of some outside unknown influence" instead of "you are a lazy skeezbag."
