The Myth of Red State Gun Violence

I know I'm gonna have to say it again for the cheap seats on the left...black areas are more violent not because of the color of the residents' skin. Black areas are more violent because they've been pigeonholed into a perpetual welfare state by their Democrat charmers in order to guarantee their votes. Democrats have hooked too many blacks on the twin intoxicants of government dependency and evasion of personal responsibility which, more than slavery or the KKK or Jim Crow, has absolutely devastated the black community. I have no doubt that a deeper dig into the statistics would reveal that these same violent areas are off the charts in fatherlessness, drug addiction, and child abuse, all of which are inevitable consequences of the welfare state.

But if liberals persist in their uncomfortableness discussing the racial demographics of America's most violent areas, we can instead break down the statistics politically. With the exception once again of Otero County, all these violent areas are deep blue strongholds. Feel squeamish when I point out that these areas are majority black? No problem. I can simply point out that they're majority Democrat. That correlation, methinks, is better supported by the realities of political life in contemporary America. A 2024 study by the Manhattan Institute backs up this assertion.

That Democrats are inherently more violent is a truism that crosses racial boundaries, as the mostly white criminals of Antifa, Occupy, and campus leftists routinely display. After the murder of United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson, a poll of mostly left-leaning Americans under 30 found that a slim majority of them (41%/40%) found his murder "acceptable." This is nothing new. Leftists have always not just "accepted" violence in furtherance of political ends; they openly advocate for its use as a weapon of terror, and have done so since the French Revolution.

Here’s How The Media Are Lying Right Now: ‘Rewriting’ Ukraine War History Edition

Baker would have his readers believe that Putin woke up one morning and said it looked like a nice day to start a war. That’s not what happened.

When Zelensky closed down those TV channels just after Biden’s inauguration, he added insult to injury by tweeting at the time, “Ukraine strongly supports freedom of speech. Not propaganda financed by the aggressor country that undermines Ukraine on its way to the [European Union] and EuroAtlantic integration.” In effect, Zelensky was telling Putin their countries would not have relations, despite sharing a long history and, more importantly, many people on both sides of their border preferring a union of the two.

And then there’s the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, an alliance that exists for the explicit purpose of consolidating the U.S. and Western Europe in opposition to Russia. Ukraine is one of the last two countries right on Russia’s border that isn’t a part of NATO, the expansion of which Russia has repeatedly stated is aggravating strained international relations. But after Joe Biden came into office with open arms for Ukraine, Troianovski said Zelensky “became more outspoken about wanting to join the NATO alliance.”

The timeline is clear. Biden comes into office, Zelensky feels emboldened to antagonize a much bigger and more powerful country under the belief that Ukraine will be protected by NATO (other nations’ armies and money), Russia reacts, and we end up funding Ukraine’s defense.

As for Zelensky being a “dictator,” it’s not like he outlawed political opposition, shut down places of worship that had traditional ties to Russia, forced the closure of media outlets critical of his administration, and indefinitely suspended elections to keep himself in power. Wait, let me re-check my notes. Never mind. He did do all of that in a process known in permanent Washington as “democracy and freedom.”

When people like Peter Baker claim that it’s “rewriting” history to acknowledge the truth, what they really mean is that the propaganda they prefer has been a failure.

One of the dumbest and most hilarious cases of this very phenomenon was on display in a story in the Washington Post this week. It opens with this paragraph, “At California’s Yosemite National Park, the Trump administration fired the only locksmith on staff on Friday. He was the sole employee with the keys and the institutional knowledge needed to rescue visitors from locked restrooms.”

I have questions.

Why is there a locksmith on staff, as a locksmith, when you could just contract with one when needed? How often in your life have you said, “Damnit, why isn’t there a locksmith on staff?!” At the most, I’d say one time. But the odds are heavily in favor of never.

Next, why is this guy the only person with keys? Is that the source of his job security? “Fire me and you’ll never get into any building or room again, because I will destroy every key!” Doubtful, as other locksmiths exist, not to mention the fact that changing a lock isn’t all that hard.

As our own Just Mindy reported Friday, Alec MacGillis of ProPublica told us of the epic tragedy out of Yosemite National Park, where "the sole employee with the keys and the institutional knowledge needed to rescue visitors from locked restrooms" was laid off. Next we'll be hearing about someone dying trapped in a National Park restroom.

WIRED did all but doxx six young men working for Elon Musk's DOGE agency. "Young" seems to be the main line of attack against these staffers, who have been referred to as "little boys."Jacob Silverman has found out even more about one of the prominent DOGE staffers, Edward "Big Balls" Coristine. It turns out the Coristine is the grandson of a turncoat KGB agent. The important word there is "turncoat."

UKRAINE: Drive by media freaking out that Ambassador Witkoff’s negotiations aren’t being supervised by a deep state representative such as Nuland or Vindman. Witkoff’s last meeting with Putin was one-on-one for 3.5 hours.

Axios finds three-quarters of swing voters support DOGE. While 90% of Republicans — and more than half of Democrats — want Elon involved in government operations.

Media attacks on DOGE are backfiring because Americans are seeing the receipts: the millions to the Taliban, the drag shows in Ecuador, and the industrial scale corruption.

Exactly. "Democracy" is their dog whistle. Whenever you hear that word used in a way that doesn’t quite fit—such as claims that Trump is a "threat to democracy"—mentally replace it with "NGOs."

The message will suddenly make a lot more sense.

LEFT: Jessica Tarlov spouts Dem talking point that people all "over the country" are rising up to say “What’s going on at DOGE is unacceptable!"

RIGHT: Poll released today saying DOGE is extremely popular with Americans.

Their anti-DOGE propaganda isn't working.

NEW: Former CNN host Don Lemon tells Megyn Kelly to go "f*ck herself" because she was mean to Joy Reid, reminds his viewers that Reid is a woman.

Lemon tried claiming that Kelly was a misogynist because she trolled Reid, who sadly lost her low-rated show.

The far-left show host also claimed Kelly was a "racist" as he whined about Kelly's comments about Reid.

"So let me just say to Megyn Kelly, in my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color, go f*ck yourself. Okay?"

"She has built the second part of her career on being a troll."

"So this is what Megyn Kelly said about Joy Reid, right? And remember, Joy Reid is a woman... Megyn Kelly is a woman."

Only fools think Elon is incompetent

https%3A%2F%2Fsubstack-post-media.s3.amazonaws.com%2Fpublic%2Fimages%2Fb5fa4e46-90af-4bf6-86a6-652758dea2e0_809x440.jpeg

This statement is wrong, of course. According to biographer Walter Isaacson, Elon got a 1400 on the SAT in the late 1980s, on his second try. SAT scores and IQ are highly correlated, and according to all the sources I can find, an SAT of 1400 at that time would have roughly corresponded to an IQ of in the mid-130s. Elon also has a bachelor’s degree in physics and was accepted to a materials science PhD program in the 90s. He is a man of well above average intellect.

But that’s not why Abramson’s statement is so absurd. The reason it’s absurd is not its content but its purpose — it represents an attempt to diminish the country’s fear of Elon Musk and his role in American politics by calling him stupid. This is a very foolish thing to try to do.

First of all, IQ is not a great measure of competence at the kind of things Elon is best at — building and improving organizations, identifying talent, managing large numbers of people, fundraising, creating and communicating a vision for the future, and so on. Keuschnigg et al. (2023) find that IQ tends to plateau at high levels of wealth:

We draw on Swedish register data containing measures of cognitive ability and labour-market success for 59,000 men who took a compulsory military conscription test. Strikingly, we find that the relationship between ability and wage is strong overall, yet above €60,000 per year ability plateaus at a modest level of +1 standard deviation. The top 1 per cent even score slightly worse on cognitive ability than those in the income strata right below them.
