I can understand that you were upset about not knowing were your child was.

My response was directed about calling the trans. dept. multiple times and expect to get it resolve and answer back asap. It is just physically impossible to answer 130 call first day, fix everything and call 130 people back asap. I feel the trans. dept first thought was to fix the urgent problems first and then move onto problem. To listen to one message, fix the problem i.e. check route, call driver, call school, wait for calls back from these people...takes some time. Now times that by 130..just the first day and see how long that takes ya.

I read in the enterprise that there was some 600 routes that needed to be changed. These buses are not making one-way trips just to your house and directly to the school.

Again, I'm sorry you got the run around or felt ignored the first day of school, but calling trans. dept 1000 times and expecting a call back AFTER the problem is fixed works for noone. It is more important that they spend their time and fix the next problem and get this whole thing resloved asap.

If we live in a perfect world, everybus would be on time to the second and everything would run smoothly. Does your life run this way, everyday?

I can only imagine the transportation office being bombarded with calls.Being told "someone would call me back" is something that i have a problem with.....Every year during the first week of school, there are problems with bus scheduling.....i can understand that......can the trans. office? Why can't they be more prepared and bring in extra people to handle the problems and calls?Might be something they need to look into,ya think????

I totally agree. I have even offered my assistance, but cannot help cause I don't know the routes, etc.

Hopefully, next year they will have less problems and more help, even if it is only for the first two weeks.(extra help)

Donna K.,

It seems that you have a vested interest in taking up for the failure of the Transportation department to properly and efficiently transport the children to and from the schools. That is fine with me, but you are seeing it from your side only and those calls that were not returned should have been returned when an answer was known because that is what was promised. If they are too busy to return the calls they should state that and not blow smoke up people's butts. The truth can go a long way if you use it, but lying is something that many don't forget. I am sure all the callers that never received their call back felt they were being lied to.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love my kid's school, I love the bus driver, but the transportation department SUCKS.

Last year, not even this year with it's 600 route changes, a week before school, not even the first day with thousands of irate parents trying to find their kids, I called the transportation dept and asked why my street wasn't even listed on the bus route. The answer I got was that as a new incomplete neighborhood our street wasn't owned by the county yet and buses don't do private roads. I knew that the developer had turned to road over to the county and said so. I was promised a call back. That call NEVER came, despite my leaving two more messages. I was all ready to take my kid to school (because the closest posted street on the route was unsafe) when I got a call from the bus driver, she had driven the route the weekend b/f school started and had a question about which house was ours. She had no idea that I'd been in contact with the transportation department.

This year, again my street is not on the route. But since the same bus drives the same route, I trusted the bus driver to find us, since the transportation department doesn't have a clue. Did I say I love my kid's bus driver?
