metrocast outage?

Good, so it's not just me. I'm using the AT&T backup connection on my iPad and it's sluggish.

That's what I'm doing as well. Do you pay for that service every month, or just switch it on when you need it (e.g. in cases like this or perhaps when you travel)? Unlimited data or one of the capped plans?

I've been debating whether to keep paying for my service with AT&T. I was one of the lucky ones that got in on unlimited data when it was first offered (they pulled that offer on the iPad pretty early on) and when I've bought successive generations of iPads I've confirmed with them that they would let me keep unlimited data so long as I keep the service active (in exchange for my continuing to buy AT&T models). But now with the Verizon shared data plans, it might be worth it to make my next iPad a Verizon model, especially considering that SIM cards attached to an unlimited data account are fetching a pretty decent price on eBay and such.

I pay every month. It's only $12 or so and I use it all the time when I'm out and about. It's an x-MB per month but I can always buy more if I need it. Definitely worth it.

My husband suffered serious withdrawal symptoms without the internet. He'll be glad to find out he wasn't alone.

Interesting thing about Sunday night's downage is that both of my boys had Internet the whole time. I couldn't connect on my laptop so I used my phone's 4G hotspot. My guess is that MetroCast's DHCP stopped handing out/renewing IPs. Both of my boys had good IP leases. I didn't.

Surfing the internet for long periods of time can cause withdrawal symptoms 'similar to people on a comedown from ecstasy' | Mail Online

Excerpt:
Using the internet for hours on end can result in withdrawal symptoms similar to the ‘comedown’ experienced by drug users, scientists warned yesterday.
Researchers found spending excessive periods of time surfing the internet left people in ‘negative moods’.

And, like drug addicts, when heavy internet users go back on the web their negative moods lift.

:smack::smack::smack:Sick of Metrocrap being down every weekend! What the hell is their problem????

maybe its a problem on your end. i haven't had any issues with metrocast on the weekends. except a few weekends ago when it went out for most of the area. Maybe you need to get a new modem or a new wireless router if u have that that is.
