Missing German Shepherd Pup--$500 REWARD

micro chips

We have a feral cat that once he tamed down, I took him to the vet for shots, a chip, etc. They scanned him before doing so, and he was chipped already. They wouldn't re-chip him because of that. I contacted the owner, who told us the cat had been missing for almost 3 years, and presumed dead. She didn't want the cat anymore, so we contacted Home Again, and had the stuff transferred to our names.

I could imagine Zeus or Morgan being in someones window doing that, then I give the 'Watch' command... I would simply ask the people inside the house 'I will call the dog out if you let me have them back'

Our male (Zeus) disappeared for about 3 hours one day, scared the ever living crap out of me. We were so happy when we found him - was on a farm about 400 yards away on the other side of the wood line, I used my female to track him. :yay:

Good luck to the OP, and I hope you find him.

email me!!! stat!!!! :tap:

I have a chipped dog that was abandoned. I was told by animal control when I found him that if you have a dog for 2 weeks or more the dog becomes your property, regardless of the chips.

Won't stand up in court.

In most other counties I've lived in, you can hold onto a "lost" dog for 48 hours and do your best to find the owner. If after 48 hours you do not find the owner, the dog must be given to animal control/local animal shelter. Just because you find a dog and feed it for two weeks, does not make it yours or your property. That makes it stealing.

What won't stand up in court? Animal shelter now has me listed as the owner and gave me the chip information to change the registration.

That's fine..dog was abandoned...

I was talking about the general premise of what you posted...AC making the claim that after two weeks, dog is owned by the person in possession.

So you're saying you have my dog?

If I do then you would know that after we finally tracked you down you said you didn't want the dog anymore and that you could no longer take care of it and were worried about how you were going to take care of yourself and your kids after your husband walked out on you all...so how have you been? The dog is doing great!

they would have contacted/tried to contact the owner first

as most owners do not know they need to register the microchip info after they get it place :dork: so it comes back to the place where it was placed.

BUT IF the owner is a GOOD PET OWNER... and reregister the chip and keep the info updated... they will contact the owner.... and you would not have the pet  (and she has contacted the chip co… and reported him missing.. So if someone ever tried to change the info…. BUSTED)

No vet will not place a chip in pet knowing there is another chip there… but if they do not scan the pet first.. They will not know! (but they should scan the pet after the chip is placed…. And they may find it then :yay:)

I work with microchips in pets every week... and see more that are not registered then are!

They did try, the information was no longer current. The dog was already in tri-county's system, he'd been adopted by the previous owners from them.
As I said my dog had been abandoned, when I finally did find the previous owners they didn't want him anyway.
I was given the information to reregister him from tricounty, which I did.

totally different situation....

1. bad pet owners.. never updated chip info after adoption
2. never should have had a dog if they didnt care enough to really look for him or want him (glad they finally found him.. or they found the dog and gave him up)

... now you as a owner :yay:... have updated the info!!!
and you care for the doggie!! :huggy:

you have no clue how many pets come in HBC and IF they have a chip.. are not reg. :frown:
