Gabapentin... it's just not for people anymore.Trip to the Park Vet Clinic this morning.
Both Buff and Cooper, while scared, calmed down enough once they has hissed and grrrd a bit.
New vet to us, Dr. Powers. She noted that once calm, the boys were good.
Buff is now a little over 15 pounds, Cooper a little under 18.
Doc recommended trying to get Cooper down a few pounds.
HOWEVER, when it came to tiny Miss Phoenix...
Wow, is she feisty. I have a few scratches from putting her in the carrier the Mrs. was holding.
The only thing the vet was able to do was get her height, right at 7 pounds still.
When they tried to examine her, angry Bobcat came to mind.
They tried to put a muzzle on, I tried to calm her for a 2nd attempt.
No Go Zone, back in her carrier, still angry.
We have rescheduled her for another try next month.
Doc prescribed Gabapentine to give Phoenix the night before and morning of the next visit.
Did some research online, vets also use Trazadone on cats and dogs.Gabapentin... it's just not for people anymore.
I'm learning with our senior Golden a lot of the same drugs are used.Did some research online, vets also use Trazadone on cats and dogs.
Phoenix DID NOT want to go in the carrier on Tuesday. This is where she slapped my arm.

First thing I did once we had the carrier closed, hydrogen peroxide to wash out the scratches, then ointment and bandaids.Be sure to put antibiotic on that scratcharoo.
