Gee, I wonder why they'll take it away. :duh: Maybe if you were a little more considerate. :smack: You're one of the reason smokers have such a bad rap. :buttkick:

:sigh: It was SARCASM - which I really thought would be something you are intimately familiar with. Anyhoooo.....

I DON'T blow smoke in anyone's face. But, like someone said earlier in this thread, I'm half tempted to - this ban pizzez me off. I try to be a considerate smoker and what do I get for my trouble? So why bother??

Exactly. If you were one of these business owners, how would you feel about a bunch of schmucks in suits telling you that can't allow something on YOUR PROPERTY because a bunch of lazy, whiney b******s simply wouldn't go to a place that chose not to allow it? What's next, passing a law that says I can't smoke in my house if someone complains? How about passing a law against wearing a certain color of clothing because it's offensive? WTF is the matter with some people?

That's it! I'm running an underground "Smokers Only" club out of my basement.

:lalala: :lalala:

You guys don't get it. BUT I do like your club idea~! See I support smoking...I think it is a great natural selection tool. I feel you cost the health system less money because you die quicker and younger. So light up and have at it! I really don't mind...until I get bombarded in a family restraunt with your wayward smoke. Hey, you deal with it on an airplane...deal with it while I am at dinner please.

If you'd happy with an inch, why be selfish and support taking a mile? I.E., support making the sections sperated by walls rather than air, instead of banning it altogether?

Or just not visiting those restraunts if it's such a big deal. If it's so important to you, why do you continue to go there? Some things should be voted on by feet/money rather than dealt with legally. Funny how people forget that more and more everyday.

We go to Applebee’s because we like the food and the smoke doesn’t always make it to our table. This last time, the ventilation was working against us. I wish places like Applebee’s, Ruby Tuesday, etc would’ve gone the extra step of doing a better job at make sure the smoke stays in the smoking area. If they had, we probably wouldn’t be looking at a smoke ban now. I’m an ex-smoker and I always made it a habit of not smoking in restaurant environments and I never smoked in the presence of my kids. I would smoke at places like Hole in the Wall, Cadillac Jacks where people weren’t trying to enjoy a “sit down” meal. I guess it was just a courtesy thing.

Never had a problem with cigarette smoke interferring with my consuming my meal or drinking my beverage.

I must be one of the lucky ones.

I know nothing
There is only 2 problems I have with smokers.....

1- Keep your freaking butts in the car when your finished with them. Quit dropping them on the street at the stops lights, or while driving down the road. Seeing a lit cig flying at my car window at 55 is not cool. They still make cars with ash trays!

2- If you got to smoke, just dont blow it on me. How would you feel If I came over and farted on you? It used to be sexy in the 70's and 80's, but its not hip anymore to blow smoke in someones face.

Welp the just doomed every American Legion and VFW post in Maryland.

They can get a 3 year extension :yay: Most of the smokers and victims of second hand smoke will have ceased expiration by then. :dead:

That's an excellent point as well.

It was that "financial advantage" part that just slayed me. Socialism at its finest.

Actually, I wonder if they would be exempt through some loophole...

If they become a tobacco store, or if they can claim financial hardship and file for a 3 year waiver that is NON-renewable.

Big Brother is here.

I was thinking that maybe they aren't considered a restaurant or bar...

American Legion, VFW and Elks are private clubs that do charity work. I was surprised that The private organizations passed through the house.

This is not good for the organizations that do charity work. Many like to hang out with their buddies, drink a few cold ones and enjoy their smokes while they make plans to raise money for the community.

My daughter received some awesome money for college through Elks, and I don't want to see this benefactor being hurt.

Give us some place we can smoke...sheesh! People pay to belong, and do something positive for the community.

If everyone there can keep their mouths shut, how would anyone know?
Because some Smoke-Nazi with membership will complain.

You can't. Private clubs are not exempt from this law.
You can if it does not require a license.

I wonder what would happen if a bar/restaurant made a smokers room where they did not sell food or drink but sold tobacco products and had a lounge area to sit and smoke.

No. It was the AL and VFW that they were specifically considering when the included clubs.

I'm not interested in going somewhere solely to smoke. I can do that at home.

I want to sit in a bar or restaurant with friends, eating, drinking and smoking.

:buddies:

Nobody will ever want to go out with me again. :bawl:

Those all-u-can-eat crab things? Damn! It takes the company I'm with 3 hours to pick all those crabs, while I go sit at the bar, smoke and order beer, away from the non-smokers.

I can see me hurling crabs and pitchers of beer at all of them if I can't smoke.
Road rage? never had it. Smoke rage? Don't even get me started.

Let me eat my crabs, drink my beer, have the occasional smoke, and keep the brats at home.

Kids and adults with loud lungs (screaming brats) make me want to blow my smoke directly into their mouths to shut them the hell up. :jet:
