I told the officers I just wanted the guy removed - it wasn't worth my time to file a property destruction report and then go to court 3 or 4 times never to get anything out of it. So after the cops shooed him away, they talked to their superiors who then apparently suggested they apprehend him since he had caused some problems the day before in Lexington Park. Now they actually had something to arrest him for with the property destruction at my place. Well by the time this was decided, he had already disappeared into the heat. After hearing how combative he was at DG earlier, I wasn't gonna deal with the feral. So I am not faulting the officers over this one in letting him get away.
I've wasted too many days in court over the years for petty theft, never to get anything out of it. These criminals know how to foul up the justice system. 1st time they come in without an attorney - judge postpones for a later date. 2nd time they come in with a public defender who doesn't show up - judge postpones for later date. 3rd time everyone is there - judge dismisses my case because they have the suspect on more serious crimes that he is sitting in jail for. And of course my case is never the 1st on the docket but I still have to be there at 1pm, then sit around for 2 or 3 hours each time, sometimes with one of my employees who was witness to the crime, which means I am paying that employee for nothing. So in the end - yeah, just get the guy out of there and serve a no trespass - we are all better off. Unless of course it is legal to shoot now, ask questions later.
