Ducati are world renown racing bikes, and VERY successful on the MOTOGP circuit, they are built for one purpose.. SPeed and Performance. They corner unbelievably well, and are DANGEROUS. They are NOT made for comfort, especially the MH900E, and don't expect to ride a long way in one day without a few sore spots and tight muscles. But if you can find a twisty road the bike will REALLY shine.

V-Rod is Harley's idea of what a Sport bike should be. Not even close to the performance the Ducati has. You won't find a Harley on the MOTOGP circuit that I know of, at least I've never heard of one on the podium at a MotoGP race.

BUT Harley has it's place, albeit not on a race track, but how many of us are going to race our bikes anyways. Performance alone is a bad criteria for choosing a bike. BUT the good criteria for choosing a bike depends on what YOU want.

Some like the sound, the sitting style, the shine of a Harley.. and the V-Rod mostly still offers all of that.

Ducati is not going to be loud, is not going to be like sitting in your lazy boy at home, and it doesn't have many shiny parts.

One of the draws for motorcycles.. to get the performance of a mediocre motorcycle in a car, you are looking at spending 60, 70 thousand dollars or more.

I think this sums it up well. We have the VRod, our friend has a Ducati. The Ducati is definitely faster and more of a race bike. I wouldn't go on the Ducati without serious protective gear -- although maybe that's a reflection of the driver :)

Our VRod is Harley's version of a sports bike--but it's still a Harley. You're not leaned over the VRod like you are in a sports bike (hence the rake comment above). It's kicked back a little and black & silver like a Harley should be. I guess it's faster than other Harleys (we don't race them so I don't really know) but what I found is that the VRod is a lot more fun to ride than a Harley Road King and seems to hug the road a lot better.

The VRod is a big bike. While it's fine for DH who is large and has experience riding, I won't ride it. I'm going to try and to sell DH's VRod this spring and get myself a low Hugger.

UAIOE
Dems you should buy an MH900E, then when you get skeered you can sell it to me for the price of ten buckets of KFC.
