Someone many years ago, don't remember who, coined it for the asshats that would swarm on under another name to harrass others, do the infinite me too's on some subject and circumvent a timeout or board ban.

Multiple Personality Disorder.
Coined some years ago to describe persons who come in and post under a new name, presumably to suggest they're someone "new".

In the old Usenet newsgroups, they had a similar phenomenon - they were called "sock puppets" and people would create them in order
to have someone agree with them online, making it look like there were more people who thought like they did.

This trend is unusual in that it largely exists because a person is banned or being ignored or somehow believes they're not getting any
traction under their old moniker, as if that's the problem.

But I must mention I use one or two sparingly, so that I can ask sensitive questions on other threads or otherwise ask for advice
where it won't be brought up again elsewhere.
