I have Euphy cams at the rental house that I installed after the last tenants moved out. They are battery powered and the batteries last from six months to a year, depending on how many recording actions take place, and there are solar charger options that make the life unlimited) They record to a base station and alert on the phone when what I've set is detected, either all motion or just humans moving. You can set a field of regard that is all they look at for motion or humans. They overwrite older stuff so unless you save it download it, it eventually gets recorded over. And by eventually, I mean months.

As for theft, these have a "screamer' alarm of 120dbs that sounds if they are demounted without being disarmed through the software. And of course, even if they decide to run away with the screaming camera, its recorded on the base anyway.

Get fake cameras with working red LEDs
How many real cameras have a blinking red LED? None.
Real IP CCTV systems are cheap now. Just get a real system. No need for 4K, that just makes the file size huge when you need to hand over video to law enforcement. A system with 2-5 megapixle cameras is fine. I run 4 megapixle cameras and the quality is just fine.

I just thought of this, on Friday I passed an orange fiberglass extension ladder on the side of RT 32 that had fallen off a truck and obviously ran over by at least one vehicle, it was all busted and folded in half. So there is a free ladder there if you need one.

My house faces the road although I have a dense row of evergreens that should stop the road traffic from triggering a motion sensor. How do you stop people from stealing your camera?

The morons aren't smart eough to realize how expensive they are.. the cameras tend to scare them off in the first place though.. and you mount them out of reach.

You can borrow one of mine if you are near St. Leonard area. Might be a good time to buy a ring camera to catch thieves in the act and send video to police to track them down.
So interestingly we spotted a ladder that looks like ours on the far side of the next door neighbors house hmmm. Upon inquiring my man friend was told that "oh I tried to ask if I could borrow it but you left". Sure buddy that's why it's semi-hidden on the OTHER SIDE of your house where we can't easily see? Exactly when did you plan to return it? Obviously not BEFORE we saw it? Apparently I need a camera that points next door.

I'm so tempted to notify the County they are turning a single family home into 3 separate residences to rent which seems impossible to run 3 kitchens off an electric panel made for 1 house? So far I've never seen a County Inspector there despite the electrical contractor van that shows up evenings/weekends doing that side job. Going to become a very expensive lesson to learn from stealing a ladder if I call the County. I worry that if that house goes up in flames it can set my wood barn on fire since the prevailing winds blow my direction (why I was so upset when they were shooting off fireworks and burning trash over there). Whoever subdivided the lot I'm on should have made that lot next door wider so the house is not so close to the property line next to my barn.

Here ya go. Search the address of the culprit using their address here at the St. Mary's County permit search. If no permits have been issued, send an anonymous email. They might also being violating planning and zoning regs, violating septic capacity or public sewage operated by MetCom based on the original EDU, (Equivalent Dwelling Unit), issued.

I'm assuming you are in St. Mary's County.

Well. It appears there is no recent permitted work. Therefore they are doing un-permitted work.

Btw, might want to delete that screen shot. From the information that is there, anyone with a sense of internet sleuthing could glean who that neighbor is and where you live. Or your neighbor could find out that you, possibly, instigated inspectors to issue a, possible, stop work order, and any associated penalties and fines.

And we wouldn't want to see anything untoward happen to you or develop because of it.
