If your brake light doesn't come on when you use the front brake then either you have a REALLY weak right hand or there is something wrong with your bike and you should take it back to the dealer you bought it from for them to fix it.

A non functioning brake light relay might affect your MSF completion or MD inspection as well. Although I'm not sure.
I'm sure it's coming on. I never checked, but will tonight. I bought it from a private party. It's in excellent shape and passed inspection so the brake light must be working.

 Pretty sure it won't pass inspection if the brake lights don't come on when you apply the brakes.
I'm not sure if the requirement breaks down the distinction between front and rear application of the brake resulting in the brake light coming on for each individual application.

Okay, coming from a new rider (only in second season), You need to LEARN that bike, you should know everything there is to know. You shouldn't be getting on and riding if your not sure your safety equipment is operating properly. YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT! Also, I hate to bash your comment about *falling* DONT assume you are going to fall or you will!!!! Keep in mind you are doing a very dangerous activity, and with that comes risks. It is your JOB TO NOT fall! So, the potential is there, but don't tell yourself that your going to fall, OR YOU WILL! I worked everyday alone in parking lots and when my Hubby was available we went for early morning rides and let the traffic build around us, my comfort level stayed high, and I have the confidance to tell myself, that I'm not going down unless a whole lot of stuff goes wrong. I set out to learn the things about riding that are the most dangerous.....handling the bike on GRAVEL sucks, but I forced myself to do it. I practiced and practiced my emergancy stop until its second nature! I can stop in no-time at all! I learned my bikes limits which allows me to stand on my brakes(BOTH OF THEM) and the bike stays strait, steady and does not skid! Another pet peeve of mine is everyone automatically wants to know when I'm getting a bigger bike( I ride a 250 Ninja) WHY do I want to move to a bigger bike when I have a flippin blast on my bike and can practically toss it around like a bicycle??? Don't let peer pressure put you on the seat of something thats gonna get you killled. YOU decide when you want or need a larger bike~ My ultimate goal is to ride my Hubbys 94 Yamaha V~Max, that has a stage 7 jet kit.............Major power there, and he offers it daily, and I know I can probably handle it.............BUT CAN I DO SO SAFELY?????? NO! So, I guess all I'm saying is keep practicing, learn your bike and ride long and safe!!! :howdy: :howdy: :howdy:

To pass inspection, your brake lights are required to come on when you apply the brakes.

Of course if you bought the inspection certificate from your 3rd cousin's nephew's brother in-law.....

Actually, he wants a 2005 Anniversary Edition, He likes the bike as it is, and he really dosen't like the jet kit, but in order to remove it he would have to replace all 4 carbs.... The word on the 2007 is that they are going to loose their diehard fans, because of the style changes.... and that is how we ended up with a new Toyota Tocoma because he likes the old body style and they changed it on the 2005 and he wanted to get an 2004 before they were all gone :spank: , but Hubby will read these post later and comment further, he knows alot more than I do! :tantrum

In that case, how about a nose stand (use front brake to get the rear wheel up). That's what all the cool kids are doing in the music videos
