I'm Eagles Wife...............The offer stands even if its just for company, like I said, I can always use practice at slow speeds myself. Next time the UPS driver laughs, just remember AT LEAST YOUR NOT WEARING BABYPOOP BROWN SOCKS!!!!!! If you want to get to a larger parking lot, say BAE...We will get you there, just ask. As for your father, I wish you well, I lost my father to cancer in 1998. And the bike will be a good outlet for you, I find when I'm riding, I can forget about EVERYTHING and just be in the moment.
You might want to wait until spring for your learners, with winter coming it may be a waist......I know when I got on my bike after last winter, it was like starting all over.....it just came back to be faster than it did to learn in the first place. I have so much fun, I really hope you don't get discouraged, you'll be glad if you stick it out, I promice

Thanks so much. I was thinking BAE, also and my husband can ride it over there while I follow in the truck. I do love our UPS guy. He was just enjoying the show. There I sit on the side of the road WITH my blinker on, trying to remember how to turn that off (got it now) and he was just smiling at me. Is there a certain amount of time you can keep a learner's permit? I mean, this could take yeeeeeeeeeeeeeears......I think we'll see you in the Spring though. I'll be traveling back and forth to California for a while. Thanks for the good wishes. :huggy:

Just took the advanced class on base. Lots of skills practice involved, but not much class time so basically I got a paid day away from the office riding the bike. Life is good. All 12 riders passed which isn't much of a surprise, but there were a few breaks given. The written test was a piece of cake, but I'd say most of the riders, except the kucky/smart guy that was riding a borrowed Honda 350, were pretty well challenged by the skills course. One poor guy on a new Triumph locked up his front brake on the wet pavement and got a little damage. Lucky it didn't happen during the actual emergency stop test or he'd have been out. Even if you have a base pass, but haven't taken an advanced class I'd sure recommend it. Beats work!
I saw you guys out there and was going to beep, but didn't want to be responsible for anyone hitting the instructor..

I took the Advanced course in the Spring and had one young guy on a BIG Suzuki drop his bike three times.. he didn't pass. Was a GREAT class to take after being away from bikes for a lot of years. You weren't on the glow in the dark green bike were you??

BTW, whats the name of the lady that runs the course? I lost my wallet with my MSF card in it over the summer, and need to replace it, never provided a copy of it to my insurance company!

I was stranded on a bike with no gas, 400 miles from home.. no credit cards, no cash.. it was a great adventure!

I think I kept mine for 6 months, It expired the day I took the MVA test. figured I had nothing to loose if I had failed since it was expiring anyway. Remember if you see a brilliant blue w/ yellow swish Ninja and a Yellow V~Max both with yellow mirrored shields...........Thats Eagle and me, give us a honk! And remember....*Keep the rubber on the Road* :howdy:

Lisa Quade is the lady in charge. Let me know if you can't find her number. Hope they kept a record. Thats why some of us old guys were in there. Appearantly they think its our responsibilty. hmm. No the green Kawasaki wasn't me. I got stranded in Mexico once and had to hitch a ride with a produce truck back to the border where I could call a friend to come get me. It was only about 80 miles, but seemed a lot more.

My wife just read this post and wanted to know why I called the guy on the Honda " kucky" and what it meant. So to clear it up for the rest of us who either know what kucky means, realize its a typo, didn't catch it or don't care I meant LUCKY. There, now I feel better. Have a good day everyone.

I actually played on my bike today for about an hour. Hubby set cones up (well actually, diet coke and beer cans) in the driveway and I went through them and only ran over one. I got it into third and up to about 25 and was feeling like I am maybe getting it. And we did some stops in the driveway. I may get this after all. The guys doing the roof down the street were enjoying the learning experience. I had a pink sweatshirt on that another neighbor commented on. And the girl down the street that learned to ride a BIG bike on our street stopped by. All in all, good day on the bike. Not so scared anymore.

Good for you, by next Spring you'll be a pro!!

You'll have to stop by one of our Tech Days, and see woman bikers in action wrenching on their own bikes!!

Our TEch Days, are throughout MD and VA.. twice this summer I have hosted one in Dameron.

For me it's a BMWBMW(BMW Bikers of Metro Washington) event, but many bike makes show up. This is where you learn how to maintain your own bike. Change the oil, adjust the valves, next week, one of our members is changing both her front and rear shocks, already changed her alternator belt.. Two guys are bringing new tires to change and balance.

Depending on who needs to do what it could be a great learning experience, and great group of people to hang out with!
