I am very sorry for your loss..Very unfortunate...But reality when you let your cat run outdoors. I wont place a kitten with someone that intends to make it an inside/outside cat...Be glad you had him the 11 yrs if he was out that whole time..that is old for an outside cat..Again though..I am sorry for your loss.
I had a cat growing up that was indoor/outdoor and it lived to be 19. If it wasn't for this dog our cat would have been fine. I have a dog but it wouldn't hurt a fly and if it hurt somebodies pet I would feel so terrible.

I would load up the 12ga., hang a T-bone from a string just inside my property and lay in wait.

BOOM

Happy ending.

RIP Sammy.
:bawl: I so sorry... My kitty's name is sammy too. He's an iside cat. My Poohkitty was killed by a dog too. My Angel had to be put down because he ate an Easter lilly and it made his kidneys fail. :huggy:

Why not keep your bird killing pet inside the house or on a leash like you're legally required to do?
Did you see the cat kill the birds? Baby birds have other preditors besides cats...other birds even.

I am so sorry that so many of us have had this happen to our kittys. You can add me to the list. It was one of my worst days. I watched the pitbull shake my baby. Three days later he was gone. The man who owned the dog kept letting the dog run free and it kept coming in my yard. I had since gotten my dog a new baby kitty that I needed to protect. After having the dog picked up by A. Control many, many times, I took matters into my own hands. I had to protect my baby. All I can say is that kitty lived a long happy life to old age. Do what you have to do to save your own. Im so sorry for the loss of Sammy.
