I changed mine because it makes sense to me. I want people to know we're a family, and I don't want there to be confusion if we don't have the same last name. Plus, my last name was very common, and now it isn't.

Mind over Matter, if she don`t Mind it don`t Matter. Compromise

You will have to move to New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, or Vermont. After March 4th you can do it in DC though, if you can hold out that long.

I changed my last name when I got married. I never imagined keeping my maiden name. Changing everything over to my new name wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Plus I knew we wanted kids and therefore I wanted our names to be the same.

Funny story though. When my youngest son was air-lifted to Children's at 10 days old, he arrived before we did. When we got there, we noticed that the name tag on the incubator had a hyphen between our son's first and last name. Thought that was weird but never inquired about it. One of the nurses came over and heard us talking to our son and she said "Oh, I thought that was one of his last names (his name can be used as a first or last name). A lot of newborns come here without being named yet so we figured that was the case with your son." The next day, we went to see him and they had changed the name tag to show that he did in fact have a first name.

I kept my ex's last name. I have since remarried and my new <very secure> husband has always been cool about it. I kept the name for the kids.

When I got married I kept my maiden name as my middle name. I had no intentions of doing so but my grandfather and father made it a point to get me to keep my last name. They both wrote out hefty checks with that name on there. A few of the women in my family have done the same. I have since divorced and taken my birth name again. Should I ever decide to get married again I will just take his last name and keep my middle name. I love my middle name and hate my last name.

I changed my middle name to my maiden name, too. My mom did it as well and I thought it was a great idea.

Right now I'm just happy to have my 4 letter last name back, although most people spell it wrong. My married name was horrendous. Nobody ever spelled it or pronounces it right. Damn Italian names!

It would be nice if my ex-wife would lose my last name. It is embarrassing when she gets popped for DUI.

:lmao: I have a friend whose ex is still wearing his name and she too has been popped for DUI and other charges. But they share a child together and she'll keep his last name til she marries the sucker she's dating now.

:yeahthat:

My maiden name is only three letters and works well as a first name, middle name or last name.

When I divorced, I did keep my married name, but that's only because of the kids. They did not want me to have a different last name then them. When my last daughter was born, it was hilarious to see her listed as baby girl ******* in the nursery. I wanted to send a pic to my ex and tell him congratulations!

My first ultrasound had my ex's last name on it. I quickly got that changed.
