NASCAR Safety Innovations - WATCH THIS!

Folks, he walked away. No injuries, no broken bones, nothing. He's okay and unharmed. I described the wreck in another fread, but words do no justice.

Watch for yourself. :shocking: :faint:

NASCAR.COM : Video

 to Mike Helton, the Bodines, John Darby and everyone at NASCAR R&D. If there were ANY questions about this COT, I think we have just gotten all the answers.

NASCAR deserves a lot of the credit for this one with their mandated SAFER barriers at all NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Truck Series venues, for mandating the HANS device and most importantly for this Car of Tomorrow.

NASCAR was asked to step up to the plate after Kenny, Tony, Adam and of course Dale died in 2000-2001. The darkest years are behind NASCAR now.

I don't care if this racecar drives like a dump truck, if fugly or anything else, I love it. :yay: :yahoo:

I want that COT as my street car. If Michael McDowell just survived that, a LOT of manufacturers better look at that video over and over and start applying some of those COT concepts into street cars.

Do you want to talk about the drivers who didn't walk away? I mean, go back to David Reutimann one year ago. Yeah, he walked away, but that knocked him clean out.

It's only Windows Media Player, btw. :lmao:

I have that already. It says I need a plug in.

The car is great but the cars before had many a driver walk away from similar wrecks.

Earnhardt Sr.
Last time I saw him wreck ...... well, uh, America knows what happened.

Had they had HANS, Soft walls (Although I bet Mikey McDowell ain't gonna call that wall soft :jet:) and COT, he would've walked away.

Same with Neil, Rodney Oor, Ernie Irvan (who damn near died at Michigan), Adam Petty, Kenny Irwin and the many others who have lost their lives in stock car racing.

Say what you want, NASCAR's safety innovations just saved that young man's life.

Hats off to everyone at NASCAR, they deserve a lot of the credit for the fact that he not only survived, but was uninjured.

I just can't say it ebough ... UFB! :shocking:

They're going to be talking about that for a long time.

Michael McDowell, welcome to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing.
He was in everyones way last week. Jeff Burton had some stern words for him after the race.

I admit, the car saved his life.

I bet he thinks twice now. :jet:

It's one thing for someone like Stewart to complain about you. It's another when it's someone like Jeff Burton or Mark Martin.

Like I said, I hope every vehicle manufacturer saw that wreck and is talking to NASCAR about using some of the concepts of the COT in their cars.

I'd love to have my street car be that safe.

I bet 43 drivers in the NASCAR garage just changed their opinion about this car.
