First, that 13 year-old car is probably just as safe as a 2007 Trans-Am.
Second, the speed limits here in Maryland are very slow compared to other states (Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, etc, etc). So, the speed of impact might've been the same as it would be in other states. In fact, she was probably driving at a speed that is common, average in other states.
