Neibauer Dental Clinic

Pfft you don't impress me
No. But for the longest time I thought the commercial was saying "9 Hour Dental Care". :ohwell:

SO DID I!

We went in, and they gave us a list of things for my kid, things they really did not need into the thousands after insurance. One thing about my kid, white teeth and healthy teeth is an obsession.

I was shocked. Went to two other Dentist for a second opinion and not even close to what they wanted.

After the check ups I showed them the requested work from the other Dentist office and they just shook their heads, and one office said, "well they have to pay for that office somehow"

Never went back

I was charged (no insurance) $1,050 for a crown. My friend with insurance was charged $702.00 (her insurance paid half) for a crown. I was charged $17.00 for an x-ray..she was charged $12.00. We compared everything. My charges are so much more! When I complained last Friday. I was grilled and drilled for 2 hours in the consultation room! Horrible!

I think they offer discounted prices along with the insurance. Which to me is not fair, the price should be the price. I could be wrong though

you people are moron's why would it be 9 hour when they tell you its NEIBAUER dental care , And Mr.Neibauer has the best Dr.s in the country , you can't afford the best don't go to the best!

And you called the people in here morons? First they cannot "read it" if they are listening to the ads on the radio. Second, can you prove that "Dr. Neibauer" is the best and has the best Dr.'s in the country?

Dr. Neibauer actually worked on my teeth, that was many years ago. I can't believe he does it anymore. It's become factory dentistry, they have offices all over, they have a finance company ready to help you....

What put me over the edge with them was when they called me two weeks prior to an appointment and asked me to pay what my dental insurance would not pay. I'm sure dentists have problems collecting money from patients, thats why they collect at the point of service, which I have always abided by, but when they start calling up BEFORE you even go to a schedule appointment and ask for cash, you know this isn't about dental care anymore....

What makes you think they are the best?
I used to work there and rotated through several of their offices and worked with at least 10 different doctors. I can honestly tell you the doctors are not the best by any means. I worked for and filled in as a temp to many local dentists so I have worked with some really great professionals with years and years of experience. Most of the doctors at Neibauer's are fresh out of school and can hardly hold a drill. You should try some of the best in this county (see other recommendations noted in this thread) before making a comment like that. The price doesn't make the dentist better and you're naive if you think it does.

Neibauer

I have never heard good things about Neibauer but I may have insite to the price difference. Your friend may of been charged less because the dental office has a contract with her dental insurance. The contract states the amounts that the office can charge a patient and if the office rate is higher then the allowable amount the office must write off the difference. If you do not have insurance you have to pay the normal fee and the office is not obligated to do any write offs.

Thank you all so much! Extremely helpful! Now I'm going in to see the finance "diva", and tell her I am leaving unless she lowers the prices. I have all my friend's bills and paid receipts. Her insurance only paid half of the total$702.00 charge. I'm being charged $403 more just for this procedure. I also have so many bad reviews on them I've gotten off web dental sites.
She flipped out the other day when I told her they had put in a crown which wasn't on my agreed upon treatment plan. When I finally after 2 hours of debate told her I was going to Dr. Neibauer himself, she told me there was no need to go to "corporate". She left the office and came back about 10 seconds later telling me they would not charge me for that crown.
The whole thing has been "drilled" ,and 'grilled". I do want to say though, that I love the dentist. She is great, and none of this is her fault. That's my dilemma.

Most insurance plans pay 50% for major work and the patient pays the other 50%. If Neibauer charges $1000 for a crown and the patient does not have insurance, the patient pays $1000. If the patient has insurance and the insurance plan tells the doctor you can only charge $600 for a crown then the plan pays $300, the patient pays $300 and the office writes off $400. If you do have insurance and you go to a dentist "out of network" then you are also obligated to pay the offices full fee and the office does not have to do a write off because they do not have a contract with that insurance plan.

So it makes sense that your friend would of paid less for a crown because she has dental insurance.

Thank-you. I get it, but do not think it is fair for poor people who can't afford insurance to pay 40% more than someone who can afford insurance. You say they do not have to do a write off, but can they if they want your business bad enough?

A doctor can give a discount to any patient he wants. I'm not sure how NB works and if they need his permission before making those decisions or not.

Remember that your friend more then likely has to pay to have dental insurance every month. The average person probably pays $50 and up a month to have insurance. That comes to $600 a year.

A lot of offices are also going to fee for service because insurance companies have a low allowable amount on their plans and offices are having to write-off a lot. It's hard to stay in business if you have to write off half your fee.

Wow. I went to ND and got it up the ass for thousands of dollars. Almost everything they did was poor quality

Same here - I'm in the process of looking for another dentist. I've had to have several procedures that they did REDONE by specialists... even though they insisted that they could do them in the office, got almost all the way done with it, made me pay before they would even start it (over $2000 out of my pocket and I HAVE insurance) and then after 3 visits said 'oh, sorry, we can't finish this - here is a referral to go pay someone else $800 to finish what we've already charged you for' Both dentists in the GM office are nice but I don't always get the feeling that they have your best interest in mind - sometimes it feels like they are just corporate robots.

UGH is all I can say. As far as cleanings go, they are fine - I like most of the techs there, I have to bring my kids in with me and they are sweet to them and do fine with the cleaning. But heaven forbid I need something done (and trust me, you ALWAYS need something done there....) then they get money hungry and do a horrible job.

I've heard good things about Tidewater, know a few people who go there and recommend it - but I called and they can't get me in for a routine cleaning until September!! eek! I don't know if I want to go somewhere with that long of a wait for things.

Lisa Tidewater is good. They have that long of a wait because they have a lot of patients. I go to dr.Luke he is in leonardtown and only does what needs to be done hes not a money hungry dentist and he does most of the cleanings himself if he doesn't have a hygenist in that day.
