I don't have dental insurance because I'm in business for myself, and my husband's company only offers medical. I just wanted to warn folks about their "price gouging". All people no mattter their financial "means" should be charged the same amt. Especially when you don't have the protection insurance companies offer.

Then check you wallet, aps. I went though them for a while, and the sales tactics were nuts. When told my insurance woulndt cover the costs of the recommended treatment, becuase they felt it wasnt needed, they went all high pressure on me, suggesting I take a loan, or use thier financing, or maybe borrow money from friends and family.

Went for second opinion to my new dentist, up near Prince Frederick, and shocker, I went in cold, said nothing, and they didnt recommend any of the procedures that Niebauer did. And, two years later, I'm very happy.

It's been a freaky experience for me. I've been over-charged so drastically! I know this. The finance woman Friday stood up and started yelling at me when I told them they had put crowns in my mouth I had not agreed to on my original treatment plan. I have never endured anything like it! But I WILL prevail! Even if I have to consult legal councel.

I went to them because on the phone they said they can pull teeth. Ya i went there and they wont do it i have to go to another doctor and do it. i was suppose to get my free teeth cleaning which they didn't even do then ended up still paying $65 bucks when it was suppose to cost nothing. They suck!

My family (military) went to Neibauer when we first moved here and they first opened. My husband was charged over $800.00 for a crown (couldn't be done on base) and had to pay up front. My son had 2 teeth with the baby teeth growing in behind the permanent teeth and they refused to even talk to us about pulling them, but wanted to send him to their orthodontist in LaPlata/White Plains (something like that) for braces. They also would send us a bill after every appointment (for son, daughter, and I) for much more than they said we would be charged for anything and that was after insurance paid. My recommendation for everyone is STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!

We now use Dr's. Ramillini and Hockman in Leonardtown and absolutely love them. The first time there they pulled both of the teeth for my son and never recommended braces. They also made time to work with our college age daughter who was only home for spring break and took care of some problems she had. We love them. Even my teenage son talked about how much better they were than the previous dentist (Neibauer).

God Bless our military men and women and their families whether at home or deployed. Also God Bless our Merchant Marines who are now targets of those awful Pirates.

Wow. I went to ND and got it up the ass for thousands of dollars. Almost everything they did was poor quality and now I go to Ramillini too. They are wonderful.

Just because services are highly priced doesn't mean it is always the best!

I recently purchased dental insurance through CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. This is an individual plan as we do not have dental at work. I am very pleased with the coverage. The annual premium is $151.00 per person. This includes 2 cleanings with checkup per year, so the premium is cheaper than the two visits. My husband heeds much dental work and this is saving us lots of money. The number is 410-847-9060 and the plan is called Individual Select Preferred Dental Plan. The charges are much lower than with no insurance, just check to see if your dentist is on the plan.

I went to Neibauer for a procedure and was told that the total cost would cover my return check up. When I went in for my appt, I asked the receptionist before climbing into the chair, just to make sure. She said the follow up was not covered. I left, and haven't been back.

I was charged (no insurance) $1,050 for a crown. My friend with insurance was charged $702.00 (her insurance paid half) for a crown. I was charged $17.00 for an x-ray..she was charged $12.00. We compared everything. My charges are so much more! When I complained last Friday. I was grilled and drilled for 2 hours in the consultation room! Horrible!

I have never heard good things about Neibauer but I may have insite to the price difference. Your friend may of been charged less because the dental office has a contract with her dental insurance. The contract states the amounts that the office can charge a patient and if the office rate is higher then the allowable amount the office must write off the difference. If you do not have insurance you have to pay the normal fee and the office is not obligated to do any write offs.

Good advice is to get everything in writing BEFORE they begin treatment and have them explain anything you don't understand. Then you have a leg to stand on if the actual cost is different. If they won't do it, then you try another dentist. Insurance normally doesn't cover crowns so, insured or not, you're stuck paying the full amount. That's just the way it is. Other good advice is to get yourself some dental insurance.
