I met MAX of Max's BMW at the Rally, looks like he is about 28.. and owns TWO dealerships. Nice guy, and also included in my e-mail an estimate of how much he wants for the R1200GS adventure he had with him at the Rally. It was a demo bike with 3500 miles on it, with about 5K worth of extras on it.

What!?!?!?! I thought we agreed that the next major purchase we made would be for a convertible for me. You've got a bike. Why do you want another bike? I don't have a convertible. I want a convertible.

Tore my bike down for the after tour look through (and I wrote Max an e-mail about it) they misdiagnosed my problem. The oil is leaking from a seal where the driveshaft enters the transmission housing. When I got home I checked the final drive AGAIN, and the oil level was the same, yet my back wheel was covered with oil, so off I go checking levels and my transmission is WAAAAY low. All I can say is it got me home, everyone on the BMWBMW board are in agreement that the cause was switching to synthetic gear oil, for some reason the seals don't like the synthetic stuff. BUT it should be an easy fix. It's still running, rode it to work, so now just have to watch the levels, buy some more fluid, and get ready to get my hand dirty fixing it.

You didn't consult the forum before putting synthetic in?

The Solara convertibles are kind of hard to find. I looked for one and the dealer was having a hard time locating one. I agree that Itsbob needs to get you a convertible before he gets another bike. It's only fair.

We're going to look at the 2-seater Spyder on Friday! I don't know how I can justify getting a sports convertible and trying to put in a carseat, though.

Don't forget the Mazda MX-5, the Pontiac Solstice, it's sibling the Saturn Sky and of course the BMW Z4
Personally, I think the Z3 is a much better looking car than the Z4.

I like the Sky...only $25k too! But no convertables in my near future. I might be trading in the Subaru for a Pontiac Torrent (need more utility).

Speed limit, scmeed limit.. our groups GPS hit 108 MPH max speed on the way up.. on the way back I think I beat that.
