Driving is apparently so dangerous that we should ban it altogether.
It's not the driving that is dangerous. It's the accidents.

Boy is 11 and a half, 115lbs, 4'-8" and he has a car seat.
Girl is 11 and 69 lbs. Just recently she's been able to fit into size 10 jeans.
I was 5'4" when I was 11...Vegrrl will be 11 in July and is already 5' 3".
I was 5'4" when I was 11...
I'm still 5'4"
And this is my point. I will keep my kids safe but I don't need the government telling me how to do it.

how would you feel if the government had put psa's on tv, ads in the paper/magazine's etc. but han't actually made it a law?
a lot of people are arguing that the government shouldn't force you to protect your kids, that you will do what you need to do to protect them, but without the info from the studies that prompted the law, how would you know that they still needed to be in boosters?
how does that work when traveling?
if the state you are coming from says one thing, and then you drive through maryland on your way to a different state worth stopping in, are you driving illegal since your kid is not strapped in according to the maryland law?
do you have to have different types of car seats and whatnot for every state you drive through?
Do you think Omally should be in a car seat based on his brains functional age?

That was also changed in the new law...how does that work when traveling?

Nope...it's hard to read in the version that is currently available, that I posted, between strike outs and brackets and other crap...but that section about out of state cars is bracketed...meaning that it was in the existing law but has been deleted by the new one.The increased requirements apply to cars registered in Maryland. Cars registered in other states but driven in Maryland are only required to use car seats if the kid is under 4 or less than 40 lbs.
You have to obey the law of the state you are diving in. Just like radar detectors. Just because you have one in Maryland doesn't mean you can use it in VA.
And no, MOM should not be in a car seat. They save lives, and who wants that?

When my daughter was an infant about 5 years ago the government said every child should get a shot for the rovo virus? (spelling is probably wrong - it was a long time ago) So I gave my child the shot. Guess what --- A year later they took the shot off the market because of to many children having problems with it. You should never just trust the government with a blind eye. I hate to bust your bubble but the government is not always right. It is governed by humans and no one is perfect.
