Gavin Newsom launches political organization to oppose Republican policies in red states

"NEW: I'm launching a new organization, Campaign for Democracy," Newsom wrote on Twitter. "America is in an existential struggle for democracy. Extremist Republicans are systematically attacking the very foundations of our free society — denying women equality, attacking communities of color, fetishizing weapons of war, banning books, restricting speech, and undermining the right to vote. It's un-American. It's un-democratic. Time to fight back. Join us."

The campaign's website states it was created to fight the rise of authoritarianism.

"The Campaign for Democracy was founded to expose and fight rising authoritarianism across the nation," the website states. "We believe that all patriotic Americans must go on offense in red states as well as blue states, bringing the fight to statehouses, local communities, electoral battlegrounds, and our nation's capitol to save the great American experiment in democracy."

As We Predicted, Gavin Newsom's Schtick Isn't Going Over Well With Democrats in Red States

An article in Friday’s Politico lays it all out: James Carville calls Newsom’s tour a stunt; Nikki Fried says he should stay home; a leading Texas activist worries about Newsom’s condescending manner; and Newsom insiders share that Newsom is obsessed with reading “right wing” news sites.

Let’s get to it!

We must start with this description:

[L]ike a California cabernet left out on a humid afternoon, the Newsom brand may not travel all that well. Montgomery is a long way from Sacramento, and Newsom’s political machine has only been tested in friendly territory, where his party enjoys a supermajority. Many Democrats will be glad to spend his money, but it’s far less clear that they’ll want his advice or his obsessive focus on the culture-war contrasts between Democratic and Republican states.
[T]his strategy bets that the message of a California governor — who made his fortune in fine wines and has deep ties to elite San Franciscans like Nancy Pelosi — can resonate elsewhere.

Just like everyone else, Florida Democrats bristle at Newsom’s pissing match with DeSantis:

State Party Chair Nikki Fried said she’d welcome extra resources “to highlight the failures of Ron DeSantis,” but there are limits. She also said Newsom’s favorite California-versus-Florida framing, which resonates with some West Coast liberals, would backfire in DeSantis’ backyard.
“What would not be helpful is a comparison between the two states,” Fried said. “Florida is very different from California.”

And Newsom’s extremely progressive and combative style can be a problem in states where the sensitivities are a bit different. Matt Angle of the Lone Star Project, a PAC committed to defeating Republicans, says:

Democrats [in Texas] need to show the “the contrast between responsible mainstream Democrats and irresponsible, extreme Republicans,” he said — not “more ‘turn Texas blue’ pep rallies.”
“The resources are needed, and there is some smart money that gets spent in Texas from outside,” Angle said. “But Texans, even Democrats, resent people coming in and acting like they’re bringing fire to cavemen.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom has made a name for himself meddling in other states’ affairs and issuing sweeping proclamations on Twitter. Earlier this month, the exquisitely coiffed pol decided to punish major retailer Walgreens for deciding not to distribute abortion medication in 20 states. The chain was under intense pressure from anti-abortion lawmakers across the country and a changing legal environment after the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v Wade.

How dare they! Abortion extremist Newsom was infuriated:

Well that certainly sounds like a decisive governor taking decisive action. Unfortunately for Newsom, however, he forgot to do his homework in advance—it turns out the Golden State is legally obligated to do business with Walgreens. Kaiser Health News reports:

California is legally bound to continue doing business with Walgreens through the state’s massive Medicaid program, health law experts said. And according to a public records request, the state paid Walgreens $1.5 billion last year.

Oops. Might want to delete that tweet, Gavin. For some reason, he hasn’t yet, but his minions are in full backtrack mode:

Newsom’s administration confirmed it will “continue to comply” with federal law by paying Walgreens through Medi-Cal, which provides health coverage to roughly 15 million residents with low incomes and disabilities. Were California to stop covering Medi-Cal prescriptions filled at Walgreens stores, legal scholars warned, the state would run afoul of federal law, which allows patients to get their medications at any approved pharmacy.

With all the thefts I am surprised that Walgreen's hasn't dropped California.
Anyway I have another thought .

Newsom wants to be President.

Lets look at what he did for San Francisco ---where he was Mayor, Willie Brown's replacement.
Between him and Willie they destroyed a once beautiful city, Now encampments and gutters that run with human feces and Urine and an open homosexual festival, and a city once filled with tourists is now an open sewer.;
Now he is Governor of California .---People are leaving in droves, it's almost impossible to rent a U-haul truck there Crime is rampant and illegals are storming their hospitals for free medical and crime is up all over the State.

Now the Mofo liberal tax and piss away money who destroyed a city and State wants to help destroy America, as if Biden and Obama haven't already made a good start. What is amazing is that million of do-gooder whacko's will vote for him to get it done.

Do blue states really have lower crime, better health and higher GDP?

In a video created to rally support for his organization, Campaign for Democracy, photos of former president Donald Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders flashed on the screen.

Newsom also used the video to make a handful of broad statements about red states, asserting that they had higher crime rates, poorer health outcomes and weaker economies than blue states.

We took a look at those claims. For context, we defined blue states as those that voted for President Joe Biden in 2020 and red states as those that voted for Trump.

Newsom dinged for attacking 'authoritarian' red state governors: 'He's neck-deep in a sewer'

"It's more American not to arrest people. Gavin Newsom is basically flinging mud while he's neck-deep in a sewer," he said Monday on "The Five." "He talks about authoritarianism in red states, but who is more free? There's nothing less free than a lawless state. The only thing worse than a police state is no police at all state. It's a criminal state. He governs a criminal state."

Co-host Jesse Watters argued Newsom is going to states like Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi to test the waters for a potential 2024 presidential run if Biden opts not to seek re-election.

Axios reported some of Biden’s allies and advisers don’t expect him to announce his re-election plans until the late summer or fall.

"Gavin is just waiting in the wings in case anything shakes out with Joe," Watters explained. "And he ran it [a new political ad] by Biden. He told the White House he was going to campaign in these red states. If he was campaigning in swing states, that would be more threatening. But he's going to deep red states, still connecting with donors, still testing out lines, getting his legs loose."

Jealous Gavin Newsom Continues to Obsess Over Ron DeSantis, Says He Needs 'a Little Humility'

But the envious Governor Hair Gel, as he is known around here, keeps making unprovoked attacks against DeSantis, including running laughable ads in Florida in June of 2022 that only seem to highlight how badly his state is performing. On Sunday, he took to the airwaves with former Biden Press Secretary Jen “Circle Back” Psaki on MSNBC.

[clip]

Newsom is entitled to his opinions—and his predictions—but he really enters the Twilight Zone when he attempts to tell DeSantis how to do his job better. He listed some areas where DeSantis could improve his governing, including focusing on the high cost of housing, which is rich, because California has the third-highest home prices in the nation according to one report. Florida doesn’t even crack the top 10.

Then he drops the real doozy:

Come back as a more seasoned and capable leader with a little humility. Which, by the way, he could use a little of.

Newsom is one of the most pompous, arrogant politicians in recent memory, constantly talking down to people and telling residents how wonderful he is while he drives the formerly Golden State into the ground. His talking about humility is as preposterous as if Stormy Daniels started lecturing you about modesty.

Newsom’s obsession with DeSantis borders on the bizarre; I can’t think of a similar situation where a governor constantly attacked another state executive on the other side of the country without provocation. It seems personal, too; Newsom kept repeating how DeSantis is “weak” over and over again as if questioning his manhood. I can see only two explanations for this weird behavior. One, he’s green with envy and can’t stand that DeSantis has had such success while he’s suffered indescribable failure, or two, he’s planning a presidential run and sees Ron as his strongest potential foe—whether in 2024 or 2028.

State by state, crime statistics are hard to compare. Some states only include crime data IF they result in a conviction in court.

On some level to a numbers person, it’s only a crime if a court convicts someone - but it ignores the fact that if a thousand people are killed by guns or knives, whether or not someone goes to prison for it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

California is one of those states. Among a lot of them.

“This is the guy who forced every one of his 40 million residents in his state to get an experimental vaccine, whether they wanted to or not, lecturing you about individual rights and civil liberties,” Carlson, a co-founder of the Daily Caller News Foundation, said. “‘I don’t get why everyone isn’t doing what we’re doing in California,’ he said. Maybe because it’s not working. Because the people who live in your state who can afford to leave have.”

Newsom unveiled a political action committee to target “red states,” including Florida, on multiple issues, notably gun control and abortion. In its first ad, it showed images of Republican Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida, Sarah Huckabee Sanders of Arkansas and Greg Abbott of Texas, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and former President Donald Trump.

Carlson called out Newsom after playing a clip of the California governor criticizing DeSantis for signing “constitutional carry” legislation in Florida.

What Gavin Newsom's 'Make America California' tour conveniently ignored

Newsom lambasts red state leaders for so-called bans while conveniently forgetting the many essentials he and California Democrats will no longer allow. He failed to mention that state-funded travel is banned to 23 states, including the four he visited on his tour. He didn’t disclose that the sale of gas-powered cars will be banned in 2035. And he certainly didn’t discuss that even skittles may not be safe from a ban in California.

If Newsom really wants to warn against authoritarian leadership, there’s no better place to start than with himself.

Newsom also tried to present himself as a guiding light on issues like education while never mentioning the dire straits schools in his home state are currently in. Students needlessly suffered as a result of Newsom’s extended school shutdowns. Recent test scores showed two thirds or more of California students aren’t at grade level in math and science while California ranks dead last in literacy. Meanwhile, public school enrollment continues to decline as families relocate, many to the very states Newsom is busy lecturing.

All of this and more, and yet California voters keep electing him and he keeps destroying whatever he is elected to.
Yep: he is the perfect democrat candidate. He is what the Democrats want.

Some of the Target stores have now reportedly removed some of the LGBTQ merchandise and/or moved it to the back of the store, although they haven’t identified what items were removed. While the store is blaming “threats,” it’s likely more in response to the economic backlash from some calling for a boycott against the company because of items directed toward children.

Now, prepare for the boycott coming from the left, as California Gov. Gavin Newsom (otherwise known as “He Who Wants to Be President” if Joe Biden steps aside) attacked Target for removing the products.
