See, this is one of the problems with self-perception. I would not consider you, pcjohnnyb, a nice guy if you are anything IRL like you are on the forums. In fact, you are a bit of a jerk.
So I will suggest that just because you *think* you're a "nice guy" doesn't mean you really are one. Maybe that's the answer: nice guys DO finish first - you're just not a nice guy.

I have learned through extensive work with people that when a man tells you they are a nice guy, they are trying to convince you of something that if were true, they would not need to convince you of.... and often, nearly ever time, I find out the exact opposite is true.
