or a B&E.....

my :loser: neighbor even asked me if the dogs barked one night she was not there..... she was hoping they did and may have woke me when someone (she knew) broke into her house... crazy thing is .. she likes my dogs and feels safe with them cuz if they start doing bad... then something is wrong! :buddies:

My one neighbor needs to put down their very old and arthritic Rottie, or get it some joint meds! First time I saw the dog I thought it was a stray that was starving that had just been hit by a car (dog was stumbling in the road). Recently I saw one of those rent-to-own trucks at their house, so something tells me they have different priorities that don't include meds for the dog?

Yeah, I get what you are saying... same for me in that I know my neighbors love when I let my kids play and scream in the streets because they tend to slow down traffic and at times act as speedbumps. :yay:

If I thought they would actually use it on the dog, I would get them meds so they could help the dog. I can get the horse meds cheaper than dog meds, and dose it per dog size you know? Not sure how I would approach it with them though to not offend them.

Same goes for people wanting to approach a neighbor with problem barking dogs. How do you do that without the people getting offended/defensive?

:jet:.... now Im not thrilled the kids play in the streets.... they have hit several cars with the balls... and run into cars with their bike... :burning:...

depends on what you give them.... some meds you should check liver and kidneys first....

hard to say

honestly that dog looked like it was close to dying then, when I approached the dog in the road to help, the gal in the yard yelled out it's ok, I said I think the dog got hit by a car and she said no, the dog is just old.

Yeah blood work is generally in order prior to a new RX.

I'm sure these are big lawn ornament dogs. I don't mind them barking all during the day either, like they usually do, they're dogs...

I might take a road trip to see if I can find them. Depending on the hood, I might put a nice note on thier mailbox. "Please give your dogs the love and attention they deserve during the overnight hours so all your neighbors can sleep, thank you!"

A horse of course!
Create some white noise - run a noisy fan or get a tape with soothing sounds every night, it will drown everything else out.

If you're too cheap to pay the few extra pennies each month in the elec bill, squishy ear plugs work great too.

Problem solved (you can only control what you do not what they do)

This is crazy, I know, but....

What if you simply went over to your neighbor and asked them nicely to please keep their dog inside at night because the barking is keeping you awake?

Silly...nevermind...carry on...

true... but sometimes it may not help...

so my friend is a K9 officer... those dogs are required to stay outside....
and most of them will bark when the wind blows...

yeah.... thats not gonna change. They train them to alert.. dont think they will "retrain" them to hush.

Yup, we've got one of those chained outside at the house up the hill from us. I don't know how the heck the people in the house there sleep because the dog never shuts up. We resort to turning on a bedside fan to drown him out, but I agree it is inconsiderate!

there is a coonhound who lives behind the place i live who is a barker. they don't bring the dog in at all he cries and carries on 24/7. In return he makes my dog bark from time to time. I also had to take up sleeping on the couch as this dog is so loud even with the windows closed and a/c on i can still hear him loud and clear. I said something to the brother-inlaw who lives next door and he said he doesn't care if he barks. If I see there son come over here i am going to ask him to bring his dog in at night as its not fair to him or your neighbors to have to listen to him bark all night cause they don't want to let the dog in cause the breeder they got him from said hes supposed to live outside 24/7 which i personally think is bs.

My Friend has a Walker Coon Hound, and he keeps his inside. He's a barker though. You would think that the people that own the Hound in your neighborhood could get fined for Disturbing the Peace with a dog that barks at all hours of the night!

Wow, you guys are a lot nicer than my neighbors. My dogs only bark when a car pulls into the driveway or they see a squirrel or something so usually, they're pretty quiet. We let them out at about 7am one Saturday so they could be out during the day while I attended a horse-show. Things didn't go as planned so we got home by about 10am and my dogs started barking when we got into the driveway. My neighbor drove like a bat out of hell over to my house and started screaming (he was still in his boxers so I assume he had just rolled out of bed) about the dogs and how he was going to call the cops. Twenty minutes later, the cops showed up at our house. Luckily, they sided with us and said that the dogs were fine.

Did you think to whip out your cellphone and make him famous on YouTube?

Is boxers considered indecent exposure? Couldn't you have told the cops he was indecent? Maybe had a morning woody or something. That would have shut him up.

There's a German Shepherd down the street from me. He has a deep ROOF. So when I notice him barking, I sing with him:

The ROOF
The ROOF
The ROOF is on fire....

After a few seconds of this, I nod right off. Better than counting sheep.

Our doxie whines sometimes, so when Msweb hears it, she gets a glass of Cabernet. After a few sips of that, she nods right off. Yep, better than counting sheep.:buddies:
