Nothing down in Florida surprises me.
It could snow in Miami under a clear blue blue sky and I wouldn't be surprised.
The girl that got the beat down was knocked on conscious and has a concusion. This is sad and shows what the young kids think how things should be handled. They said this morning that the reason for the beating was the girl had posted some bad information about one of the cheerleaders on her Myspace page.
I think anyone who commits a crime and actually videotapes it should get the chair. There is no hope for them.

They were provoked because someone said something bad about them.
I was expecting to hear how this was just a common ordinary high school thing that the police should stay out of.
You're right though - nooses weren't hung, and the attackers were white, so it should be a crime.
If the attackers were black, this would all be about how the cops and town are racists.I don't know. I mean if it were my child that was hurt and I rounded up the perpetrators and tore them to shreds, then released a video of punishing the perpetrators to teach kids not to hurt kids or mama will tear you up, wouldn't that be a public service video?
All kidding aside, at least the family can use that tape as absolute evidence against the girls that did the crime.
And I agree with Pete. That MySpace deal is evil when it comes to kids. They put some pretty awful stuff out there. Didn't one girl kill herself over MySpace postings?

I want the exact same standard applied here. We want to move forward on race, fine. Charge the attackers with a teeny tiny little crime, slap them on the wrists and let them continue to walk along in society.

I don't think they got off. They didn't get life or 30 years but they didn't walk.
I heard the other day one of them moved to a new state to get a fresh start and promptly got thrown in the hoosegow for assault or something.
