I don't think they got off. They didn't get life or 30 years but they didn't walk.

I heard the other day one of them moved to a new state to get a fresh start and promptly got thrown in the hoosegow for assault or something.
These girls should get the EXACT same sentence.

I'm not saying they do.

The victim did nothing to deserve what she got - which was basically 30 minutes of unrested assault.

But I can already see one of the same people who defended the Jena 6 is calling for the harshest of sentences against these girls.

I don't see the legal difference here.

You need lessons in understanding exaggeration to make a point. I sincerely doubt, but I have been wrong before, that Vrai wants the 6 little angels to get the eternal sleep for video taping the ass whooping. Her point, I believe, was you have to be a special kind of stupid to video your own crime and publish the evidence for the world to see.

That being said

How many of these chicks had a history of previous violent offenses?

I highly doubt any of them do, which makes it even worse that they're getting prosecuted imo.

I'm sure, if they get months or year in prison, we won't hear Jesse and Al and the ACLU talking about how they got treated unfairly. But, only time shall tell at this point.

I'm not defending them by any means, nor do I think they're angels.

In all honesty, I'm just :elaine:

Quite honestly, I think they deserve everything that's coming to them.

I just find it so amazing how the media treats whites (who commit crimes) so much differently than they treat black criminals. We already know that, if the roles were reversed, the media would defend them to all ends of the world if these 6 girls were black.

Don't think they would. Black on black crime happens every day and it doesn't make the papers. Do you think the Post or Time lists EVERY crime in the city like the Emptyprise does for St.Mary's? They couldn't afford the ink or paper.
These were white teen cheerleaders. When I was in school, they were the elite babes. Hot, smart and popular. This bunch is not only willing to assault another member of their school, but they were dumb enough to provide evidence of their crime. They were so stupid they were planning on posting the evidence on the internet and thought that would be a cool thing to do.
"When we had them in custody at the station, they were laughing about it, saying, 'Well, I guess this spring break we won't go to the beach," Judd told The Early Show. "One of the suspects asked the detective, 'Am I going to get to go to cheerleading practice tomorrow?"
"They showed absolutely no remorse at all," Judd said

Excuse me Aps but one of those girls was NOT a cheerleader and did NOT hit the girl (merely set her up). This all came out of the interview with the mother of one of the girls arrested. Furthermore the victim was partly to blame because she said bad things about the other girls on My Space. Geesh Aps don't you know anything about teenage girls? (You know I'm kidding right?)

The interview with the mother was ridiculous - said the whole thing was overblown. 30 minutes of beating AFTER the victim regained consciousness and it's overblown!

First reports said the mother of one of the girls was present when this happened. Reminds me very much of that case in Baltimore - anyone remember that one? .

Yep, I believe every word mama said.

Because she did a whole lot to stop it by calling the police out and everything. Oh wait, she didn't. :duh:

My God Roberta YES of course she's not guilty this was all overblown!

Really the interview with the mother had to be seen to be believed. In her mind the only thing her daughter did wrong was not calling the police and she really did believe the victim was partly to blame. I don't see how she had the nerve to interviewed - IMO she came across as ignorant as all get out.

pretty sure my kid would rather stay in jail than come home to me if they were involved in something like this.

because there are parents like the one who was interviewed who can't believe that their darling little angel could ever do anything wrong.

I love my kid to death but she is NOT perfect and I let her know when she has screwed up.

I also mean the ones that provided the beat down. Those kids should be afraid of the victims parents. I can't imagine being rational.
