ST. LOUIS The National Rifle Association board expresses its condolences to the families of Virginia Tech University.

The board wrapped up its annual meeting in St. Louis yesterday.In a prepared statement, the group sent its "deepest condolences to the families ... and everyone else affected by this horrible tragedy." It said it would not comment further.Former N-R-A President Bob Corbin declined to say what the slaying might mean for N-R-A's public image.The former Arizona attorney general says "they ought to look at the person, not the gun."<!-- --> Copyright 2007 The Associated Press. Incidentally - if LEGALLY obtaining weapons and permits to carry were not so difficult (thanks to people like you), then these psychos would have been taken down before they could wipe out 30 people.

Your ignorance is astounding. The NRA has NEVER promoted ownership of weapons for minors. They DO provide safety classes for our young people that teach responsible handling and marksmanship.

thats a nice thought, but in reality the school would probably still have a no weapons on campus rule, so the law abiding students who were killed wouldn't have had weapons anyway.

But i agree that in general the public havign the option to carry helps to prevent stuff like this.
