Obama's Rejection Of Pastor Unfortunate

"As a pastor in the same denomination as Jeremiah Wright, I think it's too bad that political expediency demands Obama reject his pastor. First of all, our denomination traces its roots back to the Pilgrims who came over on the Mayflower and has a strong tradition of freedom of the pulpit stretching back hundreds of years. Pastors in our tradition are expected to speak their minds and have no expectation that parishioners will agree with everything they say like a flock of mindless sheep. A preacher like Wright doesn't last in our denomination unless he is willing to see his sermons as part of an ongoing dialogue with the congregation, rather than pronouncements from on high."

Ridiculous. I'm sure members of Fred Phelp's church can use the same argument, but I ain't buying it.

If I went to a church where the pastor consistently taught a message of bigotry and hate, I'd leave. I sure wouldn't make excuses for him or my reasons for leaving, and I sure as hell wouldn't support him for twenty years and "suddenly" disavow any connection to him once it hit the public scene.

There are a lot of politicians who attend church so that they can put it on their resume. I'm 99% sure that's the only reason the Clintons ever went to church.

I wonder if this is also true for Obama? Maybe he really wasn't aware of the content of the sermons? Maybe he didn't attend enough to know this was happening?

No kidding :lmao:

I'm done with Obama. He shouldn't "reject" his pastor for political expediency - he should do it because the pastor is a dope head bigot. Since Obama didn't do that until he got caught, that makes him a slimebag anti-American racist afro-centric. He is no better than a Klan member, in my opinion.

That's his problem. How can he be the leader of the free world when he doesn't even know what goes on in his own church?

Which is why, if I'm right, he could never let that be known. It would show his complete hypocrisy, or make him look like a fool.

I agree with your point about timing. He has distanced himself from the pastor way too late.

Obama doesn't deserve any special praise as some sort of 'uniter not a divider type' for having a person like Wright as his pastor and advisor yet that pales in comparison to the Klan.

Time will tell. Hillary has to be liking this latest development as does McCain. IMO Hillary is very beatable, Obama pre-Wright was not. Now this changes things a bunch.

I wonder why Hillary's people didn't blow this one open? Since they are the dirt digging masters and all. Or did they in a round about way?

it is going to be amusing watching the damage control parties running around trying to glaze this over. :jameo:

...we're just getting started. At some point, Obama may want to consider re-hashing the Clinton legacy and see how 8 years of Animal House plays in he race. I'm sure there is more to come in casting Obama in a negative light and when McCain's turn comes we're gonna hear all sorts of fun stuff about him.

The intent is the same. Not to mention that this guy is big old buddies with Farrakhan, who has been quite specific about his views on race. If you're trying to equate the modern day Klan with criminal skinheads, lets go ahead and equate Wright and Farrakhan with the Panthers and other violent black organizations, shall we?

Obama should have been a non-starter just for going to a race-centered church. Can you imagine if John McCain went to a church that was specifically for white people and said so publicly?

You have to think the Democrats have a portfolio of dirt on McCain complete with release dates and people already scheduled to voice their outrage and concern. It will just be a matter of time.

Mr O and the Pastor...

Had a chat about this subject in APRIL 2007.
Pastor Wright --on the record about having to cut & run during the campaign if things get hot about his rhetoric. Mr Obama agreed.

Looks like they just kicked the plan into motion.
Did Obama know of the sentiments of his pastor?
Absolutely.
Did he just deny it:
Absolutely

LIAR.

Yes, vitriol from Wright or, say a David Duke is of a kind, but in terms of legacy, of actual violence, of imagery, I think that's off base, way off. Wright criticises the US for our foreign policy, which I certainly have issues with, and Wright curses the US for not caring about 'black' issues and for being a nation run by rich old white men. He doesn't claim and black supremacy nor the subjugation of non blacks.

That is, to me, a far cry from the words, ideals and deeds of the Klan and the legacy of slavery.

So, what is Wrights intent and what is the Kl-ans intent?

Besides, the Klan has endorsed Obama anyway.
