Officer Involved Incident Under Investigation

You're right everything here is speculation except for one thing. He had a .18 an hour after the inncident so it was higher at the time everything happened. One would think that alone would be enough justification for the Sheriff to send him on his way. This is assuming the Dept has policies against performing law enforcement duites while under the influence.

Right, I don't really see any way out of this mess for the cop as far as that goes.

And the fact that he was scheduled to be on patrol hours after this incident occured. No way in hell he would have sobered up in time to pull his shift, so he would have been in uniform while intoxicated. Nice.

Check out his record. Assault, DUI, drugs, child support, protective orders...

If you were on a jury, saw the post "beating" picture, and saw his record, who would you believe?
.

His previous criminal record is not admissible in court. The Jury will never see this.

A defendants criminal record is only taken into account when its time for sentencing.

He's not the defendant, he's the victim. His record establishes credibility.

Did anyone catch the fact names... I wonder if this is our Shane and Crystal.... of Bucky, Ray, and the other baby mommas drama days...:starcat:

It is indeed. I don't know this cop, but I know the "victim". I have a hard time believing this was unprovoked and that he is completely innocent of anything except driving his ATV on the road. If the police officer was drunk, he should be disciplined for taking action while impaired, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Shane probably deserved to have the shiat beat out of him. He's deserved it numerous other times too.

:faint: So are ya saying that the poor "innocent victim" wasn't an alter boy? :sarcasm: I know, just another punk - we seem to have a lot of those around here. His past doesn't lend too much credibility for him.

Its interesting that now an off duty (always on duty) police officer in this story now off duty actually means Off Duty.

According to the apologists on here, he's a cop he's always on duty (at least when they want to use a tax payer vehicle during non-duty hours). Using that argument this Cop was drinking on the Job.

Can't have it both ways
I disagree. He was in his personal vehicle and he was off duty, not on the job.

What he did was wrong but he is entitled to imbibe (but not drive) like the rest of us.

The bigger No-no is a BAC of .18, driving with your family in the car, and wearing a badge.......

You seem to forget that most of the cops, including some state troopers, have driven around with their family in the car. I'm not defending the what did or did not happen as far as the beating, but the guy on the 4 wheeler has been a huge PITA!

You're right, police need their off time like everyone else; however, Deputy Goff had no business stopping on Rt235 and confronting the ATV guy with a BAC that he had at the time. Everyone would've been better served if Goff had just called it in so in "on duty" sober officer could respond.

Knucklehead...He was in his OWN car. While they say we are on 24/7, there are times (drinking, medication. childcare) where one can not or would not drive a Police car to go to work. You know what they mean. Soooo it's not having it bothways.

And his "girlfriend" is a stupid "C" for getting protective orders against him and staying with him.

Whatever his record is he sure scored big on this hook line and sinker looks like at least 100k to make him go away if not more the county will fork over to the citizen on the 4 wheeler thats very easy to say! What goes around comes around:yay:
