ape hangers are illegal, for the simple fact that the handlebars are more than 16 inches above the seat of the bike? correct me if im wrong. If you go to a bike week, thats usually where they will enforce it... you'll see cops with a measuring tape out there.

You might have seen Mr Peter Fonda. (aka Easy Rider)
Not even close to the same.. she's talking about the ones where your brake and clutch are above your head and sholders.. that actually looks like a comfortable ride, but not sure that is from Easy Rider.. I remember him having some radical handlebars in that movie..

I see a certain guy riding around town a lot on his motorcyle. His handlebars are WAY above his head (WAY above). What's up with this? Can't be comfy, looks stupid (in my opinion). So what's the draw? LOL
Some call them ass jewelry, or driveway jewlelry.. not really practicial, but some think they LOOK cool..

I wonder if it's the guy I saw the other day. I have seen many bikes like this before, but his was just beyond ridiculous, it didn't look like his arms were any where near long enough (maybe that's why he was driving one handed)...

I knew they were "frowned" upon but didn't realize they were illegal. What's the reasoning behind that?

The bike handles like crap. I think the law says "not higher than the shoulder".

Imagine a panic stop.. wheels locking up, and you're trying to stop from getting ejected from the bike with your hands two feet over your head..

The physics aren't in your favor.

Don't know, but I did learn last night from watching Sturgis that guys will leave the clamp bolts loose so when they pull up to stop signs which are the measuring stick in SD they'll pull them down so as not to get a ticket. Then put them back up after they leave. All to look cool. Oh, and I used to have them on a 350 Honda.:lmao: I guess I was much cooler then.
