Passing on the right shoulder, revisited

I don't pass on the right side of the road because you never know what is on there that you may hit. I travel from California to Leonardtown when I get off work because I have to go to school and I always take St Andrews. And when it is a nice day you see people out walking or biking on that road. Now take for example if someone stopped to turn left onto Fairgrounds and I go on the shoulder to pass them and I hit a biker, guess who azz is up for manslaughter. It is just easier to wait, because really I'm not in that big of a hurry to get to damn school. Then you have the idiots behind you that don't want to wait even though you are and just drive along the right shoulder past everyone who is waiting. It just grates on my everlovin nerves!!!

The intersection of Rt.5 and St. Andrews is a good place to catch folks. When they turn right from St. Andrews onto northbound Rt.5, folks frequently pull onto the sholder as they round the turn. I'll pass them and then blast the horn when they start to pull back onto the highway.

See, this stuff is antagonistic and what ever actions of others you are in opposition with, your actions are far more agressive and dangerous than the what the other person is doing.
The key words here are tolerance and manners. Not just picking on you AP, And I agree with Appy that the person behind her trailer was an A$$, but most of the responses on this string sound like road-ragers trying to justify thier passive-agression or out-right-agression.
How do you know when you block someone on the shoulder that that person isn't late to pick up thier kindergardener off the bus, or is on the way to the hospital in an emergency, or are just plain late for work and facing firing? Perhaps they are just being rude, but that doesnt justify your being petty.

 Everyone makes mistakes. It really sucks; to be either the plaintif or the defendant. Time for some anger management classes, Barb.

Wow a real tough girl. So let me get this right, you not only made it so there is no exit in the event of an emergency for the other driver, but now you're threatening to break a mag-lite off into someone for your incompetent driving? You my friend are the epitome of retarded drivers I see every day on the road. Thank you for making my commute worse.

That's a good point. Even if someone else is violating the law by trying to passing on the right shoulder, that's no excuse for aggressive driving.

One caveat--if the other driver has a bona fide emergency, he or she should have the car's hazard lights on. That's what I was taught in driver's ed. A sick passenger, yes. Late for work, no.

Here is a big part of the problem, everyone thinks the whole world should give a rat’s fart about them or their kindergartner sittin there waiting to be picked up, or them being late. WELL GUESS WHAT, no one cares about you. Plan better so you’re not late for work (for the third time this week) if you need to pick up your kid leave earlier, It’s you kid for Christ’s sake. Poor planning on someone else is no reason to drive like a retard and put others at risk. It’s more than rude, It’s dangerous and stupid.

You're talking about a hot button issue to a great many people here.

Satire tends to fly over heads in that situation.

With your first post, I thought you were kidding.
The second post I was thinking, "Hmm... maybe she's not".

It's easy to get confused when you cant see the look on someone's face.

Next time you pull something like that, use the "I'M KIDDING" smiley.

I've never gotten a warning or a ticket, I've never even gotten pulled over, and I've never had an accident. I've always been a defensive driver & have never, ever had a problem.

Second, get a sense of humor, ROB.

I've got a sense of humor, but like Toxick also said, 1.) It's impossible to judge emotions due to text, 2.) You not only laugh about holding people up, but then state you're going to break a mag-lite off in their face. Your words, not mine. 3.) Not once did I see any kind of smiley denoting humor. So I'm sorry if I can't understand your meanings when your text conveys otherwise. 4.) I see now that you did use a smiley, but not until after being a wise-ass about it.

When you sit in traffic for X # of hours per day each way, little annoyances like what you described can mean a lot or ruin an already long evening home. Think about it from both sides.

And for those that ask, I sign my name b/c as you can see, my user name doesn't reflect my birth name. Thanks!
