Peter Jennings

It’s truly sad when the liberal v. conservative, red v. blue, and Bush v. Clinton political BS is brought up even in light of a man’s death. This truly shows the character of a person who cares nothing for the life of any American icon. Let’s condemn these liberals for not feeling sorry for Reagan’s death but then go and do the same when a man of differing opinion than your own kicks the can. Hypocrites.:duh: Even if you don’t like the man you should at least praise the accomplishments. I feel sorry for not the dead man but to those who almost praise the death. This is the sick end of politics.

That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

Do you deny that Pol Pot was someone's son and father? Because I can prove it.

Let's not weep big tears over a person of questionable character just because they're dead.
How about you not weep big tears... I think it is quite an appropriate time to express feelings of loss and reflection.

Why should I pretend to have respect for someone who didn't deserve it? I will weep for every American soldier who gives his life so that Peter Jennings and his ilk can bash them on national TV. But I refuse to pretend that the death of a Socialist Canadian is some huge tragedy.

If that makes me a person of poor character, so be it.

Cited From ABC News Website:

"It featured first-person accounts of the great events of the century. In 1999, he anchored the 12-hour ABC series, "The Century," and ABC's series for The History Channel, "America's Time."

Thank you Peter...I have been using these in the classroom for the past 4 years and they are a great teaching aid.

I was unaware that Peter Jennings was such an important part of your life and that you're suffering a great loss upon his death. I'll try to be more respectful.

There are many people who take politics much to far, and to ugly lengths.

You have fun with that.

I can understand a relieved, not joyful, reaction when a Hitler, Pol Pot, a habitual child molester or any truly evil person kicks the bucket. Jennings was not an evil person and even if it was a Ted Kennedy, their death isn't something to celebrate.

PS, your biography left out how Peter Jennings had Larry's uncle (his executive producer) fired for backing the unbiased equal coverage of both the Sandinistas AND the Contras in the 80s. Jennings wanted to only do pro-Sandinista stories and Larry's uncle objected to that, so bye-bye, Uncle Bill.
:wah:Differing opinions. Welcome to the world of television.
