:bs: What a stupid thing to say. She has every right to allow her pets to play in her own yard!! And how the hell do you know if the cat has killed anything?

I think sometimes that people will leap on anything in order to join in a fight and release their hostility.

That and to defend a breed that has killing instinct.

I noticed the usual defenders of the breed remained silent in this thread. Phyx was throwing a wild dart to see where it would stick and it landed on the blunt end.

I noticed that too :pete: Quite frankly, I'm surprised they haven't chimed in to give me statisics on which breeds attack more than the pitbull, and quite frankly, I don't care. Any dog that has been deemed dangerous and vicious should have a very quick death period. There are too many sweet animals that need loving homes, give the sweet animals a good home and destroy the vicious ones IMO.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog, hope he heals up quickly. Looks awful from the pics. I think most people know pits aren't always friendly w/ other dogs/cats - some are dog selective or dog tolerant, others can't stand other dogs - I'd be upset if that happened to my dog too - esp if it was the 2nd time. I think the owner sounds terribly irresponsible and maybe should own a goldfish instead of any breed of dog. If the owner knew his dog had issues w/ other dogs, it's his responsibility to keep the dog contained and secure. If he can't control his dog (by whatever means - double gating, 8 ft privacy fence, only going out on a leash in a fenced yard - whatever), he shouldn't keep the dog. (esp after the first incident..)
Good luck w/ yours...

Sad to report my pup is not doing well today. We were hoping the surgery and drains along with the antibiotics would prevent any abcess from forming. Her neck and chest is very swollen and obviously has abcessed. Were off to the vet this afternoon again. :bawl:

Please keep Marble in your thoughts and prayers. She is such a sweet girl.

My thoughts are with you and Marble and I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for her.

I'd like to get into a conversation on "killing instinct" of certain breeds, but it would be pointless because bigots will always believe what they want to believe.

My "dart" wasn't looking for a target, it was a comment to reflect the silly nature of OTHER people's comments. Really, some are quite absurd.

However, I'd have to say that if there was a dog that has been known to attack running around and continued efforts to get that dog under control failed I would not let my animals out without supervision.

I have three small dogs under 15 pounds that are never out without supervision. Do you really think supervising MY dogs would prevent a vicious and dangerous animal from attacking my dog? My first instinct would be to pick my dogs up, who do you think the vicious dog is going to go after then? Me, to get to the dogs??????????

I don't care what kind of dog this is (and no, because of ths I don't like PITBULLS) but it's a dangerous and vicious dog. ANY dangerous and vicious dog (especially one that is documented as dangerous and vicious) capable of inflicting serious bodily harm (to a 85 pound dog in my case, or a person) or death needs to be destroyed. I know some of the smaller breeds can have nasty temperments, but I really don't think a 6 pound Yorkie is going to kill me. I think I could go up against a 15 pound maltese and survive.

Some, not all, are not getting my point.

In this case, you do not have to explain your actions, you have every right to your feelings, and you do not have to defend your actions. Let the law try and work in your favor. I think after 2 previous attacks, towards your pet should justify things going in your favor. I would be calling the AC and Sherriffs dept, and taking pictures every time the dog steps pff its property. Go down to the States attorneys office take all the pictures and show them. Then walk next door to the sherrifs office and show them. Ask them if it will be alright to call them everytime the dog is loose and, with summer coming children will be playing outside. Tell them you really fear this dog is esculating in his behaviors and becomming more vicious in the attacks. The owner blows it off.

Sorry about your dog. It doesnt matter what breed, the dog is dangerous. She has every right to do what she is doing. But on a side note. I have a 220lb mastiff. He has never gotten out of the yard or left the farm. But if he did, I am sure lots of people would assume he is dangerous just because of his size and breed. The fact is he cant even run for more than 2 seconds without getting tired. I just hope if he ever did get out by accident, no one shoots him because he "looks" dangerous. Thankfully, pretty much everyone in the neighborhood knows my boy. But some people on this forum have scared the hell out of me and now I am checking all the boards on my fence:killingme

So what scares you? Nobody here said they ride around looking for dogs to kill because they "look" dangerous. They said they'd kill a large dog that attacked their pets.

Good on ya for taking care of your mastiff.

If my Mastiff walked into someones yard and got near... say one of their tiny dogs. I imagine they would be quite scared. In reality he is a gentle giant. But I have seen mothers snatch their kids up and grab their little dogs in Petco just at the sight of him. Makes me kind of angry because once you know him, his is so sweet, but they see his size and breed and think, "oh that is a mean dog!" I just dont want that to happen to him if he ever got out is all. Accidents happen to the best of us. I do take care of my animals and have a very secure fence and yard and I make sure my neighbors know him. All the kids love him so I am not really worried, I know people are not looking for animals to kill, but I could see a person over reacting if my dog got loose. The case here in this thread is what makes me even madder. Good dogs with lousy owners. This dog should be kept in the pound, and not running around attacking others. Somd how is your dog??
