Pit Bull Attack!!!!!!

Get some!
I agree with both sides of this. I'm sure your dog is fine to have in public but who's to say some other irresponsible owner wouldn't take a dog into the Petco that would "eat your matlese"? Unfortunately as a parent, you just never know. It's easier to teach to be afraid than to teach to be careful.

I chose to teach mine to be careful. Simple rules: a wagging tail doesn't always mean friendly, never take from or touch an eating animal, always let them smell you first, never touch a strange dog not being held (with leash) by it's owner, let the animal come to you and my big pet peeve- never, never, never get face level with a strange dog.
Thats great! I have no problem with that kind of teaching. I think its very, very good. Its the parents that tell their kids right off the bat. "hey stay away from that mean dog" that irriate me. They will always be afraid of him and every other dog that resembles him. I have already agreed its the irresponsible pet owner that ruins it for the rest of us. Its a circle that will never change unfortunately.

R.I.P. Bobo, We miss you!
I noticed that too :pete: Quite frankly, I'm surprised they haven't chimed in to give me statisics on which breeds attack more than the pitbull, and quite frankly, I don't care. Any dog that has been deemed dangerous and vicious should have a very quick death period. There are too many sweet animals that need loving homes, give the sweet animals a good home and destroy the vicious ones IMO.

I'm glad to hear your pup is doing better. Hopefully she is on the mend. :flowers:
It is terrible to go through this for your pup and your family. I have been through the same situation with a bad outcome.

Personally I didn't think your thread was the right venue for the typical Pit back and fourth arguments. I know it disappoints some peeps that the "animal nutties" didn't come in to defend the breed but this is not the thread to do it in. As for the dog, regardless of breed, she needs to be removed from the owner and dealt with in a humane way. Ultimately it is the owners fault and I hope you sue the crap out of her for her ignorance.

Update from Yesterday's visit to the vet

They removed both drains. The largest of the bites is really nasty looking. The drainage is thicker than it was on Friday, so the vet added a new antibiotic. Hoping to kick the infection before it's gets worse. She's not out of the woods yet, but hoping to get her better before it gets worse. 15 pills, and I'm a 100 dollars poorer :bawl: but my girl is worth saving.

I was so mad when I left the vet, I wanted to drive my truck right through that owners front door. Ignore me now biatch, is wanted I wanted to say. :cds:

I'm having a really difficult time locating a lawyer that will take on my case. I've gone so far as to call some as far away as Upper Malboro (sp) with no luck. Seems the lawyers will take the case if it's an animal that bit a human, but not another animal. If anyone knows of a lawyer that will do it, I've got most of the leg work already done, I just need some guidance.

When is the last time you talked to your neighbor? Have you approached her again about paying for the vet bills? I'd make lots of copies of your receipts and give them to her everyday until she pays you.

I did that last time, she didn't pay it then. I'm not playing her games. I've written her a letter, I've been to her house several times (she won't answer the door) and I've left her a voice mail message. No return call, she won't answer the door and she hasn't responded to my letter. I'm DONE!

I think I found a lawyer though. :yay:

What did the cops say? What did animal control say?

I'd imagine you could just take her to court yourself. I can't imagine needing a lawyer with vet letter, pictures, etc.

I talked to AC this morning. That have not made a final determination yet on the dog. They have to speak to the owner first  Whatever. I'm done with their bull shiat too. Give the f-ing dog back again and see what happens

I am taking her to small claims court myself, but the more I think about it, the more I want to skin her alive. I'm seeking a lawyer for a second Tort case. I'm not playing nicely in the sandbox anymore.

Send a demand letter via certified mail, with return reciept. You want to be able to prove you send, and they they got, the letter.

It was taped to her front door and I have witnessess that will testify that she removed the letter. It doesn't matter, I can't fight my battle on this forum, it's for the judge to rule.

She will refuse to pick up a certified letter anyway, I'm not wasting my time, energy or money. I'll see her in court.

I believe you can pay to have a certified letter served. the lawyer will help you. As long as you know when she is home or at work.

I don't know what is wrong with AC. When I went in to get the report on my dog bite along with all of the other documentation for all the times I have called them on this dog, the guy there told me that my landlord had written a letter saying the neighbor's dog had permission to run free on the property. I asked the guy, since when does a note circumvent the law? He had no answer other than that my landlord can also be held responsible for the dog biting me. They told me that I could call all I want about this dog running loose but they would not be coming back out to the house for the dog running loose. Our government at work.

What lawyer? I think you missed a few posts. I can't find one that will take the case because my dog is not human (well, I mean, she talks to me and I understand her :jameo:) I think I need the pysch ward too

You should resend the letter by certified mail...that is called "service." Then file a claim with the District Court. You don't need an attorney...it will cost you more in the long run and chances are you won't be awarded legal fees.
