Hello. This is my first post. I am looking for ideas of places to take a one year old, like parks, etc. I live in Calvert and have been to Hallowing Point Park, Dunkirk Park and the Battle Creek Cyprus Swamp Sanctuary and would like some ideas.

Thanks! :howdy:

If the child can walk, AnnMarie Gardens in Solomons is nice, put him/her in the stroller and take a walk...

Then there is Cove. Pt. Park on Cove Point Rd. They have a section designed for little ones...

There is a baby/toddler gym in St. Mary's called Kiddos that alot of people recommend.

Welcome :howdy:

Thanks for the suggestions!

Anyone else have any suggestions? In So MD or relatively local? Have already done the zoo in DC. :howdy:

Thanks Nicole M for the suggestions. I took her to Kiddos - she is walking and active - and it was great! She had a great time and got to meet some new friends.

Nothing to see here
Calvert cliffs state park in Lusby. They have tires to climb on and you can go on a walk down to the water. Bring an off road stroller for the paths.

...is good. One year olds find anything endlessly fascinating, including dirt, grass, being outside, noises, anything. There is no point, in my view, in taking a one year old to someplace special as it simply won't mean anything to them, so there is no reason to go through the trouble.

Of course, there are millions of us who think Disney World is a critical part of the proper development of one year olds.

You can say exactly the same thing when we reach the point of being senile or in other words "full circle"

...right. Once we reach old age, say 40 or so, all we want is something to eat, a nipple to suck on and clean diapers. And a nap. :lmao:

LOL. I think the need to go to different places is as much for me as for her! A change of scenery and seeing a new place is good for all.

...I can relate to, but, never underestimate the back yard. I just want all those people who have exhausted/terrified/unhappy little kids at Disney World to admit they are there for themselves, not the kids. :jameo:

Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll wait til she's two for that!

NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Minimum of 6!!! Kids don't remember experiences like that until they're four or so and, well, 6 just sounds better. Maybe 6...teen. Then you can really enjoy YOUR self.

Hello. This is my first post. I am looking for ideas of places to take a one year old, like parks, etc.

I used to take my little one to Rose's. All the employees would gather around and make a big fuss over her.

This was also enjoyable for Daddy :yay:

Have you tried the park yet on Cove Point Road in Lusby? It's free and they have separate play areas for the younger kids with the soft play surface incase they fall kind of like at the McDonalds playlands. My kids love to go there for the day. We will get pizza to go from the Domino's around the corner and even go swimming at the Parks and Rec pool beside it.

The Parks and Rec pool also has a separate toddler area that is gated off with a shallw splash pool for the little ones.

Have you thought of joining a local Mom's Club? You could have playgroups with other moms with kids of similar ages too. I did that many years ago when my kids were younger and made some great friends and we had so much fun together.
