I smelled it first.
SOP for the forums.ok, someone gave me good Karma for talking about dog sh!t... How warped is that?
no...he had a little use of one this morning, but just now when he went outside, they were completely useless....He may be overdoing it though. He dragged himself from his bed to the sunny patch in front of the door, then later dragged himself under the baby's high chair at lunchtime. Hopefully he'll rest a while.Any use of the legs coming back yet?
For a little while this morning he was trying to get his right leg under him, but it wasn't able to support him. Now he can't, but he may have tried over-using it, and is tired now. These are encouraging signs.Any use of the legs coming back yet?

Ok, you can stop praying for poop now. There is enough poo and pee all over my basement to prove the dog is sufficiently in control of his bodily functions. He has also proven that he is aware of the need to void, his "accidents" are the result of his inability to move to a more appropriate location. He at least moved away from his food and bedding.
After a short rest, he was able to move one leg a little more, so things are looking up.
No, I don't want to get all graphic, but at one point he barked and when I went to see why, He just stared at me, then he looked down, let out a little tinkle, stopped and looked back at me. He then waited for me to pick him up and put him outside before finishing. Also there are other signs that he has control, but you really don't want to know the specifics. Not to be a downer but he could have something more serious and NOT be in control of his bowels and bladder at this point....just something to consider.
Not me, my dog.
Tuesday night Hunter was walking funny. Rear right leg wasn't working right. Thought maybe it was stiff from arthritis or something like that since he is 12. Yesterday morning neither hind legs were working right. Eventually he lost use of his back legs completely. Took him to the vet last night. Herniated disc. He cannot evacuate waste. Hopefully the antibiotic/anti inflamitory will get the swelling down and give him some use back and allow him to evacuate.
Still sleeping. But that's not unusual, he likes to sleep in. Ok, he's not really asleep, he's faking it, but :shrug:How's he doing today?
Isn't that a gradual thing? This was really quick. From the time he first starting having visible symptoms to having no use of his back legs was about 24 hours.Did the vet test him for lyme?
