Produce auction

I'm not going to sit out in the heat for hours if the prices are not great. Enjoy!

I actually agree with this. I hit the farmer's markets anyway and get enough for us at a decent price. Plus I have my own garden and can buy canning tomatoes from Trossbachs.

Oh I'll hit the farmer's markets for produce rather than buying it at a grocery store, but I'm not sitting in the heat while smelling cow shiat if it's not going to save me any money. :lmao:

Not to hijack this thread but there is another area produce auction that you can find good deals at in Cheltenham. I only bring it up as I know that there are a lot of people (like myself) that cannot make it to Loveville due to time of day or location (I really want to go after reading the other comments) here is the link if anyone wants more info SMRFM Produce Auction - agriculture auction

Can anyone of you attending the Loveville Auction take some pictures and post it to the thread? I would love to see some of your acquisitions!

Ok .... lets start making plans

Come on Friday!!!!! :bann:

yes! yes! I am driving behind the storage van - with WR and, I think, Loper and a friend.

I think we are meeting at the van's house? Or do you want to make it somewhere public in case wr or loper turn out to be serial killers?

I have been to the auction before. It moves fast, so you have to pay attention and know at least a little bit about what you want and how much you are willing to spend. I didn't find the small lots very interesting, for the most part and there wasn't much there when I went a few months ago. The bigger lots should be great for a small group of people who want to split winnings.

I have a number - you can use mine, or get there in time to get in line for your own.

Bring cash - it is just easier. I think they might take checks?? But don't think they take a cc.

They sell food and snacks.

Beware of BPD - he is probably there bidding on all the cool stuff that you wanted.

It probably is going to be hot and a little stinky. But if it gets too bad, we can just have wr tell us a story. Hopefully there won't be any spideys...

I am so very blessed
Another hint: for the love of God and all that is good, please refrain from the jabbertalking that can be so distracting. It is difficult enough to pay attention to the fast-talking auction caller, that sometimes it is near impossible to keep up with the prices when other people are talking loudly.

In short, be quiet and pay attention.

Please?!?!?!

wish loper would check back in....

would like her to give us what she learned

So others have already given the scoop.. :) I think they only take checks from Approved people so bring cash. There were some good deals and some not good deals. The small lots of maters seemed to be kinda high but that was the people bidding.

This was my take for that day.

wow. What'd you do w/ all the flowers?? And the cukes! are you a pickler?

you just need to figure out what you want... I knew I wanted a lot of pickling cucumbers for pickles.. it was the first thing I bid on and I ended up bidding against one of my mom's friends who was bidding FOR me and I didn't know it..:otter: LOL so I would have ended up getting my 3 1/2 bushels of cukes cheaper

I gave a bunch of them away.. canned 4 half gallon and 36 pint jars of pickles and still have 2/3 a box left. I got a box with half zucchini and half yellow squash for 2.50 a pint of cherry maters for 35 cents..

and sometimes you can talk to the person who bought a big lot of something and they will sell some to you for the price they picked it up.. one person bought a bunch of loupes and sold my mom 2 of them.
