Puking cats

Geez, you're a genius. I've never owned cats before and it never occurred to me to brush them.

WOW....you finally saw the truth!!! :diva:

I have a friend who owns a long haired cat that just had it at the vet and had it fully shaved (lion cut) because of matted fur. They did not brush the cat and it got all matted!!!!!
Now with a shaved cat, they can start all over and learn to brush the cat daily.
Perhaps you can do the same VersaBlondie!!

Guess I'm a little late in this thread, but one of my cats puked up a massive hairball last night. Must have been five inches long, I feel so bad... that must have been awful coming up.

Is shaving a cat really traumatizing? Because it seems no matter how much I brush them (and I have the Furminator), they still have issues, so I'm considering it. I've only ever seen Manny puke up a hairball, but I imagine Mittens might have an issue too as often as I'm finding them and as often as she grooms.

I'd change the food before I shaved them. JMO

My eldest cat is buliemic (sp?) and it's totally behavioral! I don't think she's ever yakked up a hairball but if she wants love and I'm busy and ignore her she's feasting and yakking within ten minutes. It's like she's mad and binges and purges. :barf: Rotten beasts but I love them so.

Suggestions? So far I've just been mixing that hairball remedy in with their food.

A good holistic food. Wellness, Chicken Soup, Spot's Stew. I've been using Spot's Stew (sold at Petco) for a few months. I use the Indoor Chicken formula. It's $18.99 for a six pound bag. I need to check with Clippers to see if it's cheaper there. Petco is not always the cheapest place.

Since I switched them over to holistic foods a few years ago, they rarely barf at all.

We've had cat 1 for 13 years. Brushed maybe 5 or 10 times. Can't stand it.
We've had cat 2 for 3(?) years. Never brushed. No way in heck am I trying, he doesn't like to be held long enough to do it.

Cat 1 just started puking hairballs bad. Before it was 1 every 6 months or so. Now it seems like almost daily. Cat 2 never has. No changes to diet. Purina One Urinary Tract Health. Started cat 1 one hairball paste last night.

I need to check there. Queen Mildred is on a Vegitarian Formula for the past few weeks and her coat and skin is getting dry.

Timon has been on cat chow (green bag) since I've had him (3 years). I can name one time he's puked. He doesn't dry heave at all.

Thanks! I'll compare the bags as soon as I can get over there.

My...

...cats haven't puked in the house in years.

I found this stuff that works and I give it to them all the time. It's called;

OUTSIDE

And it's available everywhere. Cheap, too.
