Why does your dogs sexual behavior bother you so much?
Cant you just let him have a moment of feeling good about being a male dog that has been around a lot longer than you, as a human.
If you dont want him to hump..get rid of him and buy a goldfish.
Removing the testies does not remove humping.
Heck, babies in newborn nursery are seen masterbating..why? because it feels good.
No hormones..no testies...just because it feels good.
People hump/masturbate and hormones are not needed a part of the process...as it has to do with excitement of nerve cells.
Let him hump..you took away his balls, let him have his hump fun.
But to punish him with physical harm???

I was just curious, especially since I've never seen this from him before.
Your answer was rather harsh, don't you think. You dodn't have to talk to me like that! I would never harm Jake or Woody or any other dog. A crack across the butt with a rolled up newspaper makes noise, and it scares him.....but that's about all it does. I would never hit him hard. Sometimes all I have to do is show him the rolled paper. And it works! He didn't go back to the trash can.
I used to think you were a decent person......but now I've smelled the coffee. Don't talk to me anymore if you must use that tone.
You might be a know it all when it comes to wild animals, however when it comes to MY dogs....you know nothing! Now you've gone and made me mad.

5 or 6 times this morning, Jake (6 years old and fixed) has had his "lipstick" out. I caught him humping a stuffed animal. It's always the same stuffed animal. (which I have now thrown away) I know this sounds crazy, but it's true and I am so confused.
Why? I've never seen him like this before.
Woody has even noticed it. :snifsnif:
Why would this be happening to a fixed dog? I thought all sexual desire was eliminated when they got fixed. :shrug:
My male dog (1 year old) was neutered about a 1 1/2 months ago, and no lipstick. Just this past week, however, he started humping his favorite toy and out it came. He seemed startled and it went back in, and he forgot about it. I wouldn't worry about Jake, he's just a male, and can't help himself.

NP next time Jake trys to get into the trash can, sit him down, look him in the eyes and tell him he has upset you with his behavior. Send him to his time out corner for 2 minutes, make sure he stays there for the whole two minutes. When the time is up make sure you explain to him exactly what he did to displease you and remember to tell him that you love him!

My Jack Russell found a pillow I was throwing away in the garage, took it in the front yard and humped it for the whole world (well the neighborhood kids) to see.
My drunken neighbors across the street acted as if they have never seen a dog hump anything in their lives.
