Rebates Get Green Light

Pfft... the government was wrong to steal it in the first place.

Does that make giving it to people who didn't pay it right?

If it was just a rebate to those of us who paid, I would agree. People with no earned income are still getting $300. That makes it wrong.

It's called welfare.

Still, no complaints here. I'm looking forward to seeing the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond on YOUR dollar.

Man, I don't know what they expect this #### to do. I mean with heating oil prices going from 1.50/gal to like 3.66/gal in 5 years and everything else rising too, what the hell do they think 600$ is going to do?

They'd need to add another zero to the end to get me to spend it on anything other then bills.

Stupid politicians. I'd wager you could pull any guy off the street and he could do as well if not better then our elected officials.

So is the $300 per child gone now? I remember it was originally part of the plan, but don't see it in this article.

I think the term they're using..."Tax Rebates" is confusing people on the purpose of the checks. They should be calling them "Spending Incentives", or something. The checks won't do what they're intended to do if people don't spend that money.

The people who make the least amount of money are much more likely to spend that check as soon as they get it. Those that are living in financial comfort will be more likely to just deposit the check and forget about it.

I think we're splitting ours 3 ways. The wife and I will pay bills with our $600 and the little guy will get his deposited in his savings.

It's got to get here first.

I'll probably do the same as I did last time and put new tires on wifey's ride.

Individuals making up to $75,000 a year and couples earning up to $150,000 would get the full rebate, with those making more than that getting smaller checks.

:tantrum

Why should those who paid more into the system get less back, especially when people who pay no taxes at all also qualify for the "rebate"? It is socialist income redistribution people! I call it Government-sanctioned robbery. Robin Hood and his band of merry men is alive and well.

:faint: I actually agree with you. They shouldn't be calling it rebates.

And if they want stimulus, giving it to the poorest will get it back into the economy the fastest. $300 check, $30 to cash it at the liquor store, $100 in lottery, $100 in booze, $70 in bling. Spent within two hours and "stimulating" the economy.

I hadn't really thought of it that way. My kids will be getting us $600 bucks, so it would be fair to use that part solely for them. We'll probably put half in their savings, and the rest to clothes.

I thought the part about extra money for the kids was going away.

That means...... (breaking out the visor and paper shooting calculator)

1500 + ( 300 * 3 )...

holy crap. :faint:

Looks like I'm going to get a 22 inch monitor for the new computer too.

I might even treat the kids to McDonalds for the extra boost. :yay:

When is thing supposed to go in the mail?

:lmao:

I've offered my part to boost the economy. Have the treasury deposit $1 Million into my checking account. I can fly through that in less than a week if I'm being lazy about it.

Haven't heard back from them yet...so I guess the economy isn't doing that bad.
