Descriminatory because the owners don't want certain types of people there.

Real inviting... I hope they go out of business.

What about "Monk's" in St. Inigoes? I guess they only want the religious elite there. Not much of a clientele for that around here though....

That was, perhaps, a bit of a racially demeaning name.
I never understood that. If I remember the story correctly, a young black man uses his abilities to outwit a tiger. Somewhat cartoonish in the tiger melting.

Oh, crap. There are all kinds of people who wouldn't choose to go to a bar full of actual "rednecks". They're just using the name to suggest what kind of place it might be and I really doubt that they only let "rednecks" in. That would be discriminating. Do they have a dress code? Boots only? Flannel shirts and cowboy hats? T shirts and baseball caps? If they were really discriminating that would be one way to do it. Sound familiar?

Tigers turned to butter which he enjoyed on his pancakes.

If I opened a place called Porky's BBQ, would I be descriminating against Muslims and Jews, because I promote eating pork with my name :buttkick:

The original story was set in India, but the artist drew the characters as really bad stereotypes of African-Americans. But there was nothing wrong with the story itself. My kids have a collection of children's stories with a revised version of the Sambo story - the text is exactly the same except the boy's name is Babaji, and it has different illustrations.

It was a pretty bad stereotype of a tiger too. Most storybooks are oversimplified.

At any rate, I know some folks who frequent that bar. I asked why the name was changed and they told me that there were African Americans frequenting the place and "causing trouble", so the owner changed the name.

Is it their perrogative? Sure... but it seems like a pretty clear case of descrimination to me...

When Brass Rail was having the issue with "african amaerican's" coming in there, not buying drinks, or maybe only 1 or 2 in the 4-5 hours they were in the establishment, getting in fights, selling drugs, etc..etc.. he started playing country music, and having rock bands/country bands in the place, and it wasn't to get rid of "african americans" in general, but to weed out the trouble makers...

Maybe that's what these owners are trying to do

Well there's a reliable source. If it's true keeping trouble makers out seems like a good idea to me.
Psst, by the way it's discriminatory.

You should hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit.
How many "African Americans" do you know that are from Africa?
